I tried, but couldn't get there half the time with Flip, Frizby and tormentor chasing me down and you still launching missiles at me. I got you at least once though

Uh, it wasn't me the one that rammed ofermod's jeep "across the map" on collection.
As a matter of fact I got killed like 5 times on the bridge while trying to prevent the blue team from scoring the 4 cores (And when greed got the best of them, got back for the 4th core, and I blew up their jeep, don't know who was on it but it was awesome) But they scored anyway.

Really, I'm quite sure that limiting the rank would affect nobody else but me, so I wanted to make sure what you meant with "being toyed with"

Besides the collection game, all maps I played in where quite even in terms of score and teams, and I just used the TOW once.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

Yesterday my priority was fly a bit more the Warhawk and try to get better at it. Those suicides were not planned and chess, I would have gladly get killed by you but when I tried to make some turns I hit directly a wall or pillar.

On the team deathmatch where everyone was spread apart, ofermod was waiting with a Warhawk near our spawning point, he had been shooting missiles from the middle island earlier and was waiting for someone to spawn. I was able to get to a turret and shoot him down. That felt good.

That wasnt me man. I never played an island level or a death match.

As far as my jeep getting rammed, I dont think it was tormentor, but there were 2 peeps in the hawk when it happened so the names were jumbled. Im pretty sure it was friz, but I dont think Ive seen him pull that crap before though. On that bridge you memtion tormemtor, you were spamming the hell out of that fucking spot and I just barely get there and I was getting killed. In fact that damn collections pissed me off so much I started using mines cause I was tired of the bullshit with the other team easily getting 10 points every time and we could barely get 3.

I did like some of the smaller maps though

Ya know, I think I might remember the jeep ramming. If its the moment about which I'm thinking it looked like something glitched. I didn't think anything of it until just now. I'm not sure any of it was intentional.

If it was a glitch, it concluded into me getting blown away with rockets and bullets Its cool, I dont think it ever happened again. At least not to me, but that may be cause the other levels werent big enough

Maybe not a glitch then.

I'd say it was me, but we all know I don't have those kind of skillz.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

I doubt other folks are quite as sensitive to map selection as I am, but I put a lot of thought into what I load. In fact, I never load a map in our game without running around in it for a bit on single player to get a feel for how it will work. I factor in size and shape, only load symmetric maps for CTF, and only use long narrow maps for collection. I also factor in folks' tendencies and try not to favor anybody, myself included, which is why you never see huge maps. Last night, I had beef with almost every map that came up. Small and asymmetric CTFs, repeat maps (Supply Chain and Skirmish), Standoff as a collection map, small maps with missile turrets and TOWs, TDM on Southern Islands...

I'm not looking to be a control freak and have been very open about letting Flip host, but I want to take it back for a few weeks. Flip, please note the maps I put in rotation, as I'm sure we'll ask you again if business picks up. I'm always open to map suggestions as well and will give a thorough explanation for anything I don't want to load.

Insult to injury: DVDtalk was blocked today at work. Look for a few posts from me in the evenings.

I'm not even sure if I was on at the same time as ofermod, but I do push a jeep around every now and then. Jeeps are so fast on the ground, that a lot of times, it's the only way to stop them...plus it's kind of fun.

I do try not to spam it (or anything else) though...and as hard a time as I get, I can't even tell you how often I pass up TOW shots.

I also forgot to mention that I had a good time driving Chew around collecting cores. We did the whole lap and grabbed them all! I usually use that map for CTF, but it wasn't too bad for collection (aside from the overkill).

I'm wondering whether it was Chew and me in that Warhawk. I did take him for a joyride once...but I don't remember how it turned out...probably badly.

IIRC, we were both taken out.

We should try that on a CTF map some time: I get out to get the flag and you provide me with some air support as I try to make my escape.

I had a great run on that small CTF map with the bridge. I scored points 2-4, didn't die once in that stretch, and got a "Hat Trick" trophy. Still lost 5-4 though.

chess may not like the maps, but those map selections/game types resulted in my best showing.....well, ever.

I would argue that you playing more agressive/offensive resulted in your best outing ever.

Will absolutely deliver you for flag grabbin' next week!

And I will load a smallish CTF or two, but only if they are symmetric. I think I'll also kill the 5 second wait to spawn this week, which will help compensate on small maps.

And I also like the map with the bridge (Urban Strike on Eucadia). I think it's probably sufficiently large to make the rotation, and I'll put it in this week. But I have to warn that it really favors teams with flyers...especially if they are coming from the more compact side of the map.

I actually really like that map as a TDM since it's asymmetric.

I must have gotten the names confused then. Its just that in that map the blue team had the middle islands all the time and we were down on that team death match

Is it Tuesday yet? I went online for a game last night and was just assaulted with rampant douchebaggery. Worst couple of games in a long time.

I was online at the same time as you and saw you were in Warhawk. I've been thinking about doing a public game just so I can get enough...erm points (?) to actually change my uniform.

Glad I didn't join you

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

Normally the games aren't too bad on the Rookie servers. The first game I jumped into was just an awful Badlands CTF. The other team had overrun our spawn points and just kept blowing us up without any concern for taking the flag. I would say it was cheap but I really don't know what they were trying to accomplish.

I then jumped into a Tau Crater CTF. There was this one guy in a jetpack that kept retrieving binoculars and blowing up our gun and missile turrets around our base. All game. That's all he did. And I was playing defense because nobody else on the team seemed to want to bother guarding the flag. I will give him this... he was genius in the jetpack. Nobody could pick him off whenever he crept towards the base. I don't even know what he was doing to be so damn sneaky.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

If you want to join public (Blue) servers without having much experience on them, join first the 20 player ones. Also, before you join, check closely for the current score, because if it says 3 or 4, chances are you'll join on the losing team.
Also if you join on a server that's getting base-raped (no spawn points other than the main base) don't bother spawning, quite the game and look for another.

All good advice. I noticed you(flip) were on a large map a couple days ago which I tend to always stay off of as it relies too much on air support and it is hard to find balance on those. If one team owns the air then there is no chance. I tend to go for the 20-24 person servers

Yeah, but I always stay on large servers only when they're well balanced. Those servers usually end without anybody scoring, and what most people do is capture bases and get kills. On maps like Eucadia, with mines spawning on the right bunker just as the bridge starts, its virtually impossible to get the flag past that point if the teams are well balanced.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

The things you guys are describing are precisely why I started our game. Douchebaggery abounds on public servers, and I'm not good enough to compete with people who know and exploit all of the dirty tricks.

Tuesday is right around the corner though.

I jump into the big maps if they're using the Omega Factory or Archipelago. I don't know why, but I don't mind these maps. At the same time, I also don't usually bother going for flag captures either. I play defense or help with flag support in a tank. I can usually rack up a bunch of kills just by hanging around and picking off people who are otherwise distracted by a definite purpose. Does that sound familiar, chess?

Personally I'd add "Stop stabbing me. Why are you stabbing me?" to your quotes.

It kind of reinforces Chew's status as "special."
