I'd start with the tank. It's a great beginner vehicle. You'll get some kills and learn some skills that will serve you well in the Warhawk.

It's remarkable how well the vehicles build on each other. If you can't instinctively switch seats on the jeep or move the tank and turret independently, you probably don't need to be in a Warhawk yet. She's just a complex beast.

I was looking at the user name and thinking: "who's that?"

Ooooh, it's WhistlerSteve!

I know people better by their Warhawk names than their forum names.

My username here is an old nickname I haven't gone by for about 7 years. As my name is Steve and I live in Whistler, WhistlerSteve made sense when I got the PS3

A tank race could be fun like that. Two guys in every tank, the guys in back with a wrench and a rocket launcher....

The gears would still be a problem though.

I don't think Ofermod has shown up before the third or fourth map so are there any objections to a K&N Lobby followed by an expansion map right off the bat?

If CeePhour makes it, I don't think he has the expansion packs. I'd REALLY like to not block him out. More to come, but he's the kind of guy who could grow our game a bit if he shows up and has fun.

If you don't mind, lose the dogfight and load expansions in maps 7-10. Chew should be able to get in one or two that way.

I did get the expansions on Friday so I am good to go on the DLC. Haven't played on any of those maps so I will be lost and won't know where to go. More killing fun!

Sounds like a plan.

Other than jetpacks, do the expansion packs provide any new vehicles or weapons?

Yes. The APC (armored personnel carrier) came with the ice map and a flying personnel carrier came with the factory map. Picture vehicles with 6 dudes in them shooting in every direction. In a game with 20-30 people, they are super cool, but in our smaller game, I'm not sure how useful they'd be. The flying carrier almost broke the game IMO because it can carry vehicles (and therefore flags) and is pretty hard to take down if manned properly. The APC added some fun strategy because it generates a force field that you can shoot out of but not in.

Overall, it's jetpacks FTW.

Thanks. I'd be pleasantly surprised if he made it, but I'd hate to send an invite and then have him blocked.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

Actually what I meant was "getting lost fun!" Might arrive a bit late to play today. Family and gf taking my time when they want. That's why I had to leave a bit early last week.

Don't worry. I will play today. I am telling them I am doing something "very" important.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

I apologize in advance for any ridiculosity tonight. I got back late and rushed to change out some of the maps. Consider yourself warned. Maps 8-10 are expansion. Hopefully everyone that wants a piece of expansion can get a piece.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

Lol sorry about my tonight's introduction...

I guess it was like what happens after a night of heavy drinking and you wake up on a strange place: You think it's enemy territory. I tought the usual K&N were over and was entering a regular DM, because of the different map...

After I heard everyone laugh about it, I tought "Geez, everyone's really having a lot of fun tonight"

And then I realized

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

Needed to get to bed and didn't want to go to sleep irritated...especially since I'm teaching all day tomorrow. Hopefully you guys went to 3:3 and made a game of it.

Moral of the story tonight: Map selection is critical, and random maps probably won't end well.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

What was up with me getting rammed by a warhawk while trying to get a token point and flipping me around the map? Is that what the game is reduced to, cause its far from 'friendly'

I think the only person who killed me mostly was tormentor. I got sick of it and bailed. Put my time to better use by jogging a quick mile.

So like Friz, I didnt want to end the night irritated... just with sore legs

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

Please plan for me to host next week. You're doing a fine job Flip, but I know those maps backwards and forwards. I can generally predict how games will go just based on the map.

I also want to get the game rank limited again, as nobody has fun being toyed with.

If the number of people who can get in turns into a serious issue, we'll readdress. Right now, I still don't think it's a problem.

But not to be a total downer. Chew said probably the funniest thing I've heard in our games last night. When tormentor came into the K&N with guns blazing, I asked "Should be boot him now or boot him later?"

Chew responds right on cue in his best Daffy Duck "Boot him now! Boot him now!"

F'ing awesome!

Except the dogfight map, that is. Out of my 10 or so kills, most of them were digi's Warhawk. I'm surprised he didn't beeline for my location after every spawn.

Yeah. Point well taken. I'd never actually seen those smaller maps so I didn't know they existed. I thought I was picking larger maps all night. So while they weren't random, they were unintentionally small.

We marched on with a few solid 3-on-3 matches. After we all signed off, I went back and swapped out all the maps so I could have a list to post in here well in advance. There are just so many maps and layouts and options that it's very easy to get lost in there. And since you see so many of the same layouts in the public games, it's hard to get to know anything but the largest ones.

I signed back on when I couldn't sleep later and joined in a public game with digi. A 20+ person game on Grinder is insane.

Yeah, I have come to like that Grinder map for the most part with the right amount of people. That server I was on last night is one that I have been playing on for the last few days and every time it has been good games. It has a good mix of small and large maps and everyone there is pretty good and I like some of the settings such as the immediate respawn. You hopped off though right before the Olsavik Village map, although you left at the right time though as we got raped on that map...didnt help we were short 4 people though.

And, yeah, the map selection was all over the place last night, but we need to lighten up a bit...you know, lemonade and all. Why dont we just make sure flip sets up the map rotation a few days in advance with Chess' input instead of revoking his hosting duties? Still dont see a point in artificially capping our game size.
