I got a damn badge for it, but no trophy.
I'm not a trophy guy, but I totally cheated to get that one. Me and a buddy were messing around trying to line it up, and when we finally got it, he was literally a speck in my scope.

I think by the end, it was easier for him to adjust into my line of fire than it was for me to line up on him...which is back asswards, but pretty funny.

I'm generally not too focused on trophies, but they are a nice bonus for pulling off something ridiculous. This one is just pissing me off and I'm determined to make it happen. Just a warning for everybody tonight. If I'm going to be the resident sniper (maybe I do have a niche?) I feel like I've got to have this damn trophy.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

I got my 2,500 ft snipe trophy by nailing a guy on Eucadia's big map.
I was on the first village, just across the bridge from our base.
I was standing on the bridge that goes to the high hillside road, and got a guy camping for the missile turret on the same OPPOSITE village, 3/4 of a map away

Hope I made sense

Wondering about digi, TLwiz, steve and ed....any of you guys coming out to play tonight?

I called Eroc, and he's in...and I assume Chew is in (protect your neck).

On the Archipelago map that we play, if you're at your base and stand next to the heat-seeking turret launcher and you snipe someone standing next to the same kind of turret but in the other base camp... that's how far away they have to be to get that trophy.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

Sniping makes sense in TDM or if you have a ton of players, but not in the small CTF maps we play. Best case is that you snipe somebody at their base, but they respawn in 5 seconds in the same spot and grab their own backpack...so no penalty at all.

You sniped Chew from across the map, didn't you?

I hope you feel appropriately guilty.

It also makes sense in CTF when a dude's holed up in a bunker with your flag. I worked that angle last week when we had a stand-off. Pop. Pop. Dropped chew (probably. )with the sniper rifle. Our guy on the other hill saved the flag and I planted theirs. Bingo.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

Fair point. I hadn't considered sudden death mode. Usually, at your own base, you can respawn and re-grab the flag.

I'll be sure to load a couple of sniper-friendly maps tonight...just for you.

FYI, the sniper rifle is fairly effective against a Warhawk. I think it does 1/3 damage per hit.

Sniper-friendly maps!

Maybe I'll try to continue my Warhawk progress as well. I got into a TDM dogfight last night. I confirmed that I still stink with 1 kill versus 11 deaths. I think 7 of them were from the same dude. It's very hard to compete in these dogfights unless you're quite skilled with the gun. With 20 Warhawks flying around the weapons are always gone and the health is never there when you need it.

He better.

I've been on vacation yesterday and today, so haven't posted much here. I'll be on though. 6:30 training or just usual 7?

I'm planning for 630, assuming I can get packed early. I'm planning to stay on the ground in a jeep and let you guys kill me a bunch of times...basically want to practice hover mode, orbiting and quick escapes.

I thought either the trophy system was broken or that the trophy designers were out of their f'n minds. So I fired up a private game to figure out which it was and it was the latter. At least on my (current 25") tv, the target has to be so small that you can't even see them.

It might be worth picking up at the B2G1 at Gamestop this weekend.
If you go back man give it a quick scan, sometimes they dont change the prices for awhile. Id go to Gamestop but I dont have 3 games I want. If you (or anyone reading this really) wants too, Id be willing to give someone 1/3 their total, if they know 2 games they want and they get HOTD for me in the deal; if the game costs around $13 my share (not counting shipping, etc) that is

Fun times.

However, that outmatched Death Match that ended like 50-20 was not fun at all.

Sorry about that one. I was letting off some steam from the previous game (same teams) and didn't realize how bad we were piling on. When I saw, I did try to get my guys out of the base, but I had one who apparently couldn't help himself.

Coolest thing tonight for me was pushing digi off that bridge on the Island. I've never wanted anyone to have a mic so bad! It was nice to see him back in the game...keeps me honest.

And Chew and Steve were tearing me up on Archipelagos.

I'm out of town until Sat night, but if I get to GS on Sunday, I'll take a look.

Was that the CTF you were getting frustrated on? Yeah, I'm not sorry about that. Especially after that 50-20 game that followed.

I tried a new tactic this week: jump on top of a tank while on foot and holding a wrench. It worked pretty good until the tank really took off and I fell.

I'm still seeing intense neon lime green this morning for some reason.

Yep. I think I was the only one going after the flag, and there were always two of you waiting for me. Painful. And yeah, I cut loose a bit the next game.

That was me, doing my best to shake you off!

My bad. Sometimes I just can't control my skillz.

I do feel bad about when I was spawn-killing you on that two-on-two, but I honestly don't know that I've ever thought about that since I rarely, if ever, have that kind of advantage.
