Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night
I was the new guy, "Spatula," and I was so excited to play. Thank you, everyone, who was still around for those last few games. I have never bought a game and played with people I knew online - even at the acquaintance level we're at here on DVDTalk - and I decided to end the hesitation, forgo my stereotypes of MMORPGs (or whatever) and give it a shot.
Most games I tried over the week before I got to play with you guys are filled with land mines and no chatter or teamwork whatsoever. What a breath of welcoming fresh air. It was a great time and I think I'm hooked.
)
Picked up the DLC triple pack after everyone signed out for the night and I'm up for whatever maps. I will probably be a "final hour" guy the next two weeks, if you're all still around at that time. Otherwise, March 1 is probably my first Tuesday to play full-on.
Thanks again, seriously.
Welcome aboard!!!!

Good...hate to say, but the game wasn't the same without you. Cruz needs to find his way in as well.
Other requests for tomorrow?

Stick around as late as possible so I can try to join in?
I was in a game today on my day off and my entire team spent a majority of their time trying to ruin my good time. I hopped in a tank before someone else and everyone proceeded to gang up on me, knocking me around in the tank with their Warhawks, shooting and stabbing me over and over, barraging me with grenades, and so on. Friendly Fire was turned off so it never damaged me but it was ridiculous. I even watched them spend so much time bugging me they were killed by the other team as they took our flag. Several times.
So here's where I get absolutely naive: I've never played games online with people before. For whatever reason, I assumed there would be a certain level of civility. I messaged one of the biggest offenders and said I was disappointed in all of their behavior and if they don't want new people they should just set up a private server. He messaged back and said, "Yah that was hilarious." I guess I'm the goat. I feel pretty stupid.
You guys are angels in comparison.

Never message those people. They love it and more often than not consider it validation. Just bail the second you see that kind of stuff and find another server.
Warhawk is especially prone to that kind of behavior because it sort of "feels" like a big playground.
Because of how obnoxious the online kids are, I only play Warhawk in our weekly game, but if you want some practice, pick a night, and I'll set up some small maps for 1:1.
Oddly, I hardly ever see that kind of behavior in Battlefield.

Definitely agree on few jetpacks. I don't know why, but they just annoy me on CTF or Collection. I enjoy them in death matches though.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night
Just got home from a way-too-late night at work followed by an extra surprise meeting so no Warhawk for me. I hope everyone had fun.
Hoping to be done with work/meetings and able to play by around 9:30pm CST next week. Otherwise, March 1 may be my first full night being able to play. Thanks, everyone, for welcoming me.
