Re: Dead Space
I swung by TRU and they didn't have Dead Space. I called two other locations and neither had it either. I know first rule is not to call, but this may be one of those times to just call and check inventory. Just don't ask about price.

Re: Dead Space
The game is on sale this week at Best Buy for 14.99. I've had it since last year but really started playing it yesterday. I'm on chapter six and have to say that it is a frightening game. Has anyone on here achieved 100% (Platinum)? I'm not looking forward to playing it on the hardest difficulty for that trophy. Also, the protect the hull trophy seems to be impossible to achieve. I'm referring to the one where you have to shoot down the asteroids and maintain the shield at 50% or higher when you finish. I was lucky to finish the mission with like 7% shield integrity. What a pain in the ass.

Re: Dead Space
I think I need 2 acheivements and the asteroid one is one of them, though I missed it by 1 or 2%. Playing through on the hardest difficulty was a cake walk once you get the maxed out suit & such. I only rented the game (15 days) but I played through it 5 times. At $14.99, I may have it pick it up anyhow.

Who else thinks that a movie with one main character and a few side characters presented like the game could make for a scary ass ride? I think with a good director, sets and sound it could be scary and fun.

Re: Dead Space
It's all about the director and the atmosphere that they can create. The right person could make this a good movie. I would even be willing to keep the story to one actual character and very little involvement from secondary characters.

Michael Bay could do a good job with this movie.

On your second playthrough do you get to keep all your weapons and ammo accumulated on the first run?

Re: Dead Space
For those looking for 100%, I had have to say this is one of the easiest and most enjoyable games to get it on. Very fun to play. Very addicting. I've also played through it about 4 times. If I remember correctly, you do get to keep the level 6 suit to start out the hardest difficulty with (no weapons though). I could be wrong, been awhile since I played it.
And a tip for those having difficulty on the asteroid level... rapidly push start to pause/un-pause the game while the asteroids are coming at you. This creates a "slow-motion" effect which makes it really, REALLY easy. I was able to clear that level without ever being hit.

Re: Dead Space
...I feel Dead Space is the best game to never get a huge following on this generation of systems. I almost never even played it because the demo sucked. Reviews were so strong, and people here and other places seemed ready to let it impregnate their wives, so I picked it up and was glad I did. This second game could rock....Lets hope they don't mess it up to much...
some things I would love to see this time around...
1: More weapons...this is an easy one, and I don't want the original weapons to go away, but weapons in this game just kicked so much ass it is not even funny. I would love to see some cool new equipment that would double as a weapon.
2: More zero gravity levels, especially in open space. Loved these moments, both the zero gravity and the outer space levels. The idea of landing on maybe an asteroid, or a group of asteroids get my hemorrhoids a tingling. Would like to see the landing animation sped up a bit though
3: Get rid of the stupid ass short oxygen tank. First of all, I could hold my breath longer, and it just seemed a cheap way of building tension, when the game really did not need any help doing that. It was more of an annoyance, and I would have loved to soak in the outdoor stuff more.
4: Some sweet ass melee weapons.
5: Tougher bosses. They were cool enough I guess, but not hard or epic enough.
6: GET RID OF any level that requires me to maintain hull integrity by shooting a crappy controlled turret...ugh
7: Boobies
8: Two player co-op...this is a tough one I know, but one thing that makes Left 4 Dead 1 and 2 so great is the sound of your friend getting freaked out on the other end of the mic. How fun could this game be? If handled right they might be able to get it in without feeling tacked on like Halo 3.
9: More advanced, RPG leveling up system.
10: A motion sensor rip off of the movie Aliens, for some parts of the game...oh yeah..

Re: Dead Space
The zero gravity sections were frustrating for me. That and the part where you had to shoot the asteroids or whatever, I nearly slammed my foot through my TV trying to beat that level. I must have played it a couple dozen times before beating it. Overall I loved the game and I'm looking forward to the sequel that was recently announced.
