The Fallout 3 Thread Of Exploding Teddy Bears

Re: The Fallout 3 Thread Of Exploding Teddy Bears
there is even trench warfare that will make you think you are in a WW2 shooter, but it still is the same game at heart. You should check out the videos on gametrailers.com of the game play to give you an idea of what to expect. It still is Fallout 3, but with enemies who set up and fight more in line with military thinking, and not the more scatered enemies of Fallout 3. The enemies in Fallout 3 never really had a sense of teamwork that you face in a game like Call of Duty. The DLC sort of brings that military teamwork, though on a smaller scale.

But at the same time, like most shooters, the DLC is VERY structured. Not a lot of opportunity to explore, or just go at it your own way like Fallout 3. You are put right in the action, and led (or pushed) down a path. Someone in love with the freedom of Fallout 3 might not like this.

I just finished too, the DLC, and yeah it's just a simulation of a shooter. I was kinda disappointed that I didn't have any moral dilemmas or stuff like that in the regular game, and yeah not a lot of exploring. I found 8 of 10 intel briefcases but I don't know what are you supposed to do with them, maybe they'll be used in the next DLC.
I'm a big fan of the regular game (Fallout 3), so don't read too much in my "disappointment".

I wasn't too disappointed. It seemed to end rather abruptly though. There was no "boss" battle for me. Maybe because I speech checked the guy?
Overall, I was most satisfied when I learned you could get all those items like Chinese Stealth suit and Gauss Rifle. I didn't think I would be able to get everything.
Like others have said, it is very different from the regular game. But in a good way. Oh, I recommend pumping up your Energy Weapons skill because the Gauss Rifle is pretty badass and far superior to the assault rifle you receive.

The DLC was a huge waste of money but served it's purpose of pushing me over 1000 achievement points in the game. The new missions lasted barely over 1 hour, and I could care less about the weapon and armor that I would never use. Oh well...it should have been free or at most 160pts.

I thought the DLC was great. I played for 2 hours and got to the second mission. A couple of things I noticed were:
1. A dead Gary 23 in the outpost. That made me laugh. "Ahhh, Gary!" I wonder what he was doing way out there.
2. The reporter from the Capital Post that takes the soliders picture says something like "Maybe they'll make this picture into a statue someday" and they did exactly that. The statue is now found at the Anchorage War Memorial.
The people that finished it in a few hours clearly rushed through it, which is sad.

In fact, it took me about 30 minutes to figure out where the Chimera fuel tanks were to blow them up.

Yeah, good points. You'll miss a lot of things if you finished it in 2-3 hours.
For me it was like 5-6 hours with a lot of interruptions, damn kids. And I saw the photographer and I thought it was kinda weird, but I didn't pay attention to what he was saying.

Did anyone see the glitch in the DLC. If you attack the Doctor, everyone at the camp treats her as hostile and starts attacking her.

By the time I gave the guy the Chinese assault rifles I didn't need to buy anything, and was sitting on tons of caps.
Just finished the game. About 71 hours on the game clock, not counting any repetition due to dying. Great experience, although the ending half hour was a little anticlimactic. I reloaded to go through three of the endings to see what the differences were (there wasn't much difference).
I think the only achievements I'm missing are a couple of the neutral karma ones, all bobblies, all locations, and Nuka Cola Challenge.
From what I've heard of O:A DLC, I think I'll pass on it. I like F3 so much in part because it *not* just a regular FPS. The Pitt (what, is it another White Event?) and the third one sound more my style.
I had one follower, then when I asked another one to join me, she gave me some excuse and the game said "You may not have more than one follower." Maybe that means more than one active one, but you can "activate" more than one at the same time?
Anyway, this game was well worth the money and the time. I'm not a big replay person, but Fallout would definitely be one worth a replay.

If you grab dogmeat..and he dies..he opens up another follower spot. But you already have to have dogmeat and X.

I jumped up and down in front of him.
