Warioland "Shake It" it is a pretty fun platformer.

The controls are touchy sometimes, but I think it's fun.

Second that. I spent hours this past week playing World of Goo. This is the most play the Wii's seen in a long time.

If you're looking for addictive puzzle games, try Peggle Deluxe though sadly I think it's only on PC. You can get it for $4.99 now off Steam

Peggle will be hitting the XBLA in the new year. I think it's also coming to DS. I'm not sure about the Wii.

Re: Official Wii thread -Part IX

is there a 'trick' into getting your location set properly when using the online component of Mario Kart? It shows me in the greater NYC area instead of Texas, and I can't find a screen where I enter my zip under Wii settings or anything specific to the Mii I'm using etc...

You have to install the MK Wii Channel in order to set your specific region.

Wiimote kills dog, neighbor brings it back

Posted Jan 13th 2009 2:36PM by David Hinkle

Ozzy is one lucky pup. When the White family got a Wii this Christmas, it was all fun and games until little Ozzy's life was in danger. See, the dog was hanging around the humans, watching them bowl in Wii Sports, when he jumped up in the way and caught a Wiimote directly to the temple, killing the dog instantly. The Whites called their neighbor Pene over and she gave the dog mouth-to-mouth, saving its life. Over the next few weeks following the incident, Ozzy has thankfully started to mend and be his old self again.

There's a video of the segment shown on the local NBC affiliate after the break. Cute doggy, wouldn't you say?

We Cheer is pretty fun.

Anyway, it looks like a new company is going to take Nintendo's mantle on the amazing Bit Generations and Art Style series with the Bit.Trip series. The first game is called Bit.Trip Beat, there's a small preview video on their website:

My kids have the Littlest Pet Shop game and love it. It's like an even more cutesy Pokemon style with a couple of mini-games. Definitely recommend for those with young children that love Littlest Pets Shop.

Glad I got a PS3 to curb my game needs for now until some better Wii games come out.

Actually Party Babyz received some good reviews. Here is what IGN said about the game:

http://wii.ign.com/articles/936/936573p1.html
Yes, Imagine: Party Babyz features dancing toddlers on the cover. Get over it. Even on a console as mini-game saturated as the Nintendo Wii, Party Babyz manages to distinguish itself in every possible category. The challenges are fun and diverse, the controls are solid and varied and the art direction is simple and appealing. Its gameplay is definitely not intended for the toddlers it features on the box, but gamers old enough to grasp the depth and strategy within will have a great time. The game doesn't do anything entirely unique and probably won't convert devout haters of the genre, but gamers looking for a solid new mini-game compilation need look no further.

Has anyone played Safecracker? It looked interesting, so I ordered a copy. I'll just sell it if it's not that great.

Re: Official Wii thread -Part IX

I just ran across this:

YouTube Launches Website for the TV through PS3 and Wii Game Consoles

On the heels of CES, today YouTube is unveiling the TV Website, one of the first Google products built specifically for the TV. Initially available exclusively through the Sony PS3 and Nintendo Wii game consoles at http://www.youtube.com/tv, the TV Website offers a dynamic, lean-back, 10-foot television viewing experience that makes it easy to discover, watch and share YouTube videos on any TV screen with just a few quick clicks of the remote control.

Although YouTube has virtually always been available for viewing on the PS3 and Wii, it is nice to see YouTube provide a version of their site optimized for the consoles.

Is there an S-Video connection for the Wii? Does anyone use it? How does it look/how does it compare, etc?

There is an S-Video cable available. SV is a step up from composite.

Excellent. I'm actually downgrading from component cables, but the S-Video quality looks tolerable.

Why are you downgrading from component?

I need that input for something that will actually take advantage of that connection. The Wii with component cables isn't that spectacular.

No, I know... I've just got an original Xbox with component cables to hook up and it'll make better use of that connection than the Wii does.

Are you running analog audio to the set as well with the Wii and Xbox?

Yes. I mean, I think so. I don't have a sound system on this TV if that's what you mean...
