Agreed. Really great presentation (unique art style and good music) and the gameplay is simple and fun. I'm looking forward to playing more of it.

Between that and Wario Land, it's a great week for Wii games.

I snagged Wii tonight for the second time. I want to give it another try with more games out. A few questions...

1. Is there a consensus on what the best Zapper/Light Gun or whatever is???

2. Are the FPS (most notably MOH Heroes 2) more fun with the best said Gun or with the remote and nunchuck?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

RE4 is killer but doesn't necessarily use a zapper/gun.

I've had "Wario Land Shake It" for a few months now, and just to say, it is quite a bore. The controls are very very limited, the game is really too easy, so for mindless nights, it was alright, but I don't recommend it that highly.

Nintendo is smart. Use existing technology with minimal investment to corner the market.
Use profits from that console to R&D a true next gen console.
Brilliant strategy.

PUNCH OUT! is coming to the Wii!

As is a storage solution coming to Japan in spring '09
You can download games directly to an SD card and play them from there.
I have no idea why it would take all the way till spring to implement this.

Looks like the rumored Pikmin game in development is a Wiimake of the original game. Hopefully if they are doing this they could at least combine both original games. Hopefully this was just a testing ground for Pikmin 3.

Looks like it's part of a new line of rehashed software called "Let's Play On Wii," according to Iwata. The series will bring back popular titles like Pikmin that were released on GameCube, but they will adapted for play on Wii.

I don't hate this idea, but they better be priced at around $20. If we aren't getting a sequel, I'd like to see a Luigi's Mansion Wiimake.

I like it and I dont like it. Better to re-vamp them now I guess.

I dont like it because there is nothing new. The experience may be different but like you said its not worth 50.00 just to be able to waggle on these older titles. Make a "classic" line of lower priced gaming and it may work.

I agree, why wait so long? At least they're doing something that a good chunk of peeps in this thread have wanted, although it should have been a part of the Wii from release day.

The wait is probably because security has to be developed or redeveloped. Which takes time and testing.

I believe the LIMIT for SD cards on the Wii is 2GB though. Better than nothing I suppose.

Looks like North America is finally getting a Club Nintendo of their own by the end of the year. Umm... yea? We'll still probably get short changed on cool swag though.

Yeah, but we have to continue to wait for months for something that could be patched today. Very little to get excited about from the conference for me outside of Sin and Punishment 2.

That really sucks. I really enjoyed the first two and was ready for a third.

I don't think that Wii controls will really add much to the game anyways. I thought that the first two controlled quite well with just the Wavebird.

Miyamoto stated at E3 that a new Pikmin game is in development for the Wii. Here is further confirmation that Pikmin 3 is still on its way:

Punch Out looks amazing. I'm interested in the MP1&2 Wii remakes, but probably not enough to bite. Ditto with Pikmin 1 & 2.

S&P2 is a crazy surprise and should work much better than the N64 version.

Wii Speak Channel unveiled

Nintendo has announced the upcoming launch of the Wii Speak Channel for November 16, which will make use of the Wii Speak peripheral to ship with Animal Crossing.

The console's microphone accessory will also be sold separately for USD 29.99 and is accompanied by a code that allows players to download the Wii Speak Channel from the Wii Shop Channel for free. Nintendo further announced a number of titles set for 2009 release, including the new Wii games Punch-Out!! and Sin & Punishment 2, as well as Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and Mario & Luigi RPG 3 for the Nintendo DS.

"We have new games and new experiences for every kind of player this holiday season, and that will certainly fuel increased interest in Wii and Nintendo DS," said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of sales & marketing.

"While there's no way to gauge total demand for our hardware systems, we're trying to satisfy as many of those players as possible."

Wii Speak was first revealed at Nintendo's E3 press conference earlier this year.

Animal Crossing/WiiSpeak bundle cheaper than we thought
Posted Oct 3rd 2008 1:42PM by David Hinkle

Remember when we reported on a $69.99 price tag on the Animal Crossing/WiiSpeak bundle? Well, it turns out that price was off, by $10. Yes, the bundle will in fact retail for $59.99. That brings WiiSpeak down to $10, with the purchase of Animal Crossing: City Folk.

Animal Crossing: City Folk and WiiSpeak will be out in North America on November 16th.
This will be the first Wii game that I buy for myself, versus the other games that I bought for my friends who come over to play the Wii.

The original gamecube controls were good, but I think a wiimote in general would be much better for this type of game. The wiimote acts much like a mouse, and would make unit selection easier in any RTS or RTS lite in Pikmin's case.

Well, at least there will be one Wii game under the tree this Holiday season (AC:CF).
