At least at the $250 price point. A $50 price drop will undoubtedly spur sales for another year.

Anyone else find it disappointing they opted to make the port of Broken Sword: Shadows of the Templars DC a full priced game? I would have snatched it up pronto if it were a bit cheaper (which it unfortunately will be in no time thanks to impatient retailers).

They did put a lot of effort into the remake. I agree though it will be priced dropped pretty quickly. I want it, but can't decide on the Wii or DS version.

I don't buy this argument. The same could have been said for the PS2 at the same point(50m) but it went on to sell another gajillion.

I don't know about that. Look at the sales numbers for last month:

1. Wii - 601,000
2. DS - 563,000
3. Xbox 360 - 330,000
4. PS3 - 218,000
5. PSP - 168,000
6. PS2 - 112,000

The Wii is still outselling everyone else. And all this talk of troubled times for the Wii, well wouldn't that mean the other consoles are in even greater trouble since they are selling even less than the Wii?

Not to mention the fact that the other consoles have had some major new releases. Xbox 360 had a new Halo game and Resident Evil 5. Plus the 360 retails for less than the Wii. Yet the Wii sold almost twice as much as Xbox 360. Where are the doom and gloom articles about the 360?

Re: Official Wii thread -Part IX

Sales are really down in Japan, but that will probably be solved by Monster Hunter pretty quickly. Sales in the 500K to 600K range in the US every month will be fine with Nintendo. The continued sad story is that none of these added Wii owners seem to be helping sell "core" games. It still seems that if it isn't Nintendo, Guitar Hero or a super casual minigame collection the sales are screwed on the Wii.

Yup. And with essentially the same number of 360/PS3 units sold as Wii, it makes me wonder why 3rd party developers would choose to develop anything for the Wii anymore other than mini-game collections. Why waste time creating the next Zak & Wiki for a user base that largely doesn't want it?

The allure of the controller. Zack & Wiki, Boom Blox, MadWorld and a few others wouldn't be the same on a different console.

Speaking of Boom Blox, I picked that up in the BBV clearance deal this weekend, and I'm in love.

If video game makers were simply making the best games possible without regard to actually making money, then sure. I don't think many more games like the above will be given the chance to be made for the Wii anymore.

Except that out of all my examples I doubt any of them had AAA budgets.

Nor do mini-game collections that seem to sell many times more copies.

Re: Official Wii thread -Part IX

I need to pick up a wireless router and USB adapter for my computer so I can get online from my bedroom instead of leaving my computer downstairs. Since my Wii is close to my computer, I'll be able to get online finally!

What brand and speed of wireless router should I get? I looked at Walmart and they had Linksys, Netgear and Belkin.

Re: Official Wii thread -Part IX

Like hard drives, I think everyone will have different experiences with every brand. I've had a Linksys and a Netgear fail and I'm currently on a D-link. I wouldn't advise against the others though, I think I just had lousy luck.

^ Point proven.

Anyway, looks like Amazon is adding WiiWare games to go with their XBLA titles. Here's World of Goo, and here's hoping it goes on sale.
