And by looking at the video, this Wii game is not revolutionary, nor is it evolutionary. It looks like they are just trying to cash in on the former title, spruce it up a bit and add Wii talk. It looks like the majority of game play is exactly the same!

I was expecting more. But, of course I will be buying it! Sucker!

I would submit to you that Nintendo makes more money on software sales than Microsoft does as well. If we include the DS it isn't even a contest.

Nintendo has been catching up in the past 12 months in terms of software sales. Look at the top 20 of games sales, Nintendo tends to dominate that.

hell, Guitar Hero 3, is still in the top 10 for the Wii

Yeah, Animal Crossing looks to be more of the same, except adding the DS feature of friend-code connectivity, having some kind of central shopping place, Mii integration (which clashes a bit with the rest of the designs) and hopefully some sort of Wiimote fishing/bug catching/axe chopping features. I'm hoping they change the calendar back to having regular holidays as well.

Yeah, not much of an update, but I'll be buying it as well...

During the video they did show bunny day and Halloween. So at least we get some of the Holidays we are used to in the US. That is another thing I missed on the DS version.

Wario Land: Shake It looks like some good old retro fun with a new twist.

(Sans the animé.)

I am hearing that it WILL NOT be bundled with Animal Crossing and will only be available separately for 29.99.

Argh Nintendo has lost its mind:

Remember how Mr Fils-Aime said there was going to be something for the core gamer? And when the press conference finished, there was nothing? this is how he responds:

Responding to the criticism voiced by Mr. Crecente of Kotaku and others, Mr. Fils-Aime pointed to Animal Crossing as a game that would appeal to core gamers
Animal Crossing appealing to the core gamers? He has really lost touch with reality.

So that is the game everyone wants to play?

Reggie is obviously not taking names anymore.

I for one am sorely disappointed with the big N's conference. I wasn't expecting anything earth shattering, but I was hoping for something I would enjoy. I love my Wii and play it a ton, but not a single game that was announced for this year interests me. WiiMusic seems too simple, Animal Corssing does not look like my type of game and WiiSports 2 doesn't come out until next year. The only game Nintendo announced that I am excited for is GTA on the DS. Hopefully some better games are announced for this year as right now it is looking bleak to me. At least I have Galaxies, SSBB, Kart and Okami to play.

Anyone see the scan from Famitsu for Dead Rising on the Wii? Hells yeah!!!

I did read that while nintendo's conference sucked, third parties are having their conferences..and they might announce something cool

Interesting, but I honestly can't see this game being very good on a system with the power of the Wii. The great thing about this game was the chaos of all those zombies and getting that done really pushed the power of the 360.

I'm worried that all the Nintendo's success in the casual realm is making them lazy. Development for stuff like Wii Sports and even Animal Crossing is probably very low compared to Core games like Zelda. In turn though these games sell millions when some of the other Core games like No More Heroes bomb.

I think Nintendo is chasing the easy money, but I really worry that this could be a disaster in the long term. Success with the main stream is dangerous. The masses can lose interest in the Wii overnight and who is Nintendo going to turn to when that happens? They haven't built a balanced catalog they way they did on the DS so if the casual stuff stops selling there will be little to bring back the Core audience they no longer seem to care about.

The fact that they are (apparently) moving this to the Wii almost intact puts that assertion in doubt.

Of course, the original game game out in 2006. Developers can pull off a lot more now (on both systems).

I'd rather see a sequel on the 360 myself.

I dont consider WiiSports:Resort to be WiiSports2. Looks like a spinoff title.

Tossing frisbees? is not a sport. Unless there is a disc golf course and the dog thing is a training mode. That may be neat.

I assume the boxing has been replaced by the sword game.
Jetskiing is new. Is this really a sport? And there was no vs. play shown for it.

Where is the Tennis? Bowling? Golf? Without these games its just not WiiSports2.
There are so many things they could do to keep these core games fresh instead of giving us dogs to toss frisbees to.

It's a lose/lose situation there. If they do the same sports as before it is a rehash and would that really then be a sequel? If they move on to something different your complaints above come into play.

True. But for sports titles you can get away with it.

I would love to have updated golf with wifi play and new courses and unlockables (clubs, balls, outfits etc.). And with the new motion control these titles would be even better.

Bowling the same. Wifi play, new lanes, new balls, pin choices, night bowling, etc.

Ditto for tennis.

So much they missed out on with this title to keep the core market. You'd think that the pack in game that hooked everyone would have familiar updates and not a complete overhaul.

You honestly see grandma Jetskiing? Sword smashing?

Dead Rising was the game that I missed the most when I traded my 360 in for a PS3. I'm glad to see that it will appear on the Wii. I can't wait.

Ultimate Frisbee isn't just tossing a frisbee to an AI dog...

As I said during the conference, it would at least be something if it imported your Nintendogs dog and let you train it / make money that way.

Wow so many positive hands-on impressions for Wii Sports Resort and Wii MotionPlus:

IGN.com
In short, MotionPlus is no joke and it's going to dramatically change the way Wii games are played. As an aside, Shigeru Miyamoto has already hinted that MotionPlus may be packed with all Wii remotes in the future.
EuroGamer
It's fast. That's what really strikes you, almost more than the increased accuracy: with the Wii MotionPlus dongle attached to the base of the Wii remote, there is absolutely zero perceptible lag translating your movements to the screen. No woolliness, no wobble either. It is fluid, smooth, instantaneous, natural.
Wired
The included Wii MotionPlus controller registers every little movement of your arm. Every one. So throwing a Frisbee? It's not about just flicking your wrist any old direction. You've got to keep your arm steady, and stop your throw exactly correctly. Or else your Frisbee is going to go all over the place, and your little dog can't catch it, and he gets mad at you, and there is nothing more demoralizing during a Nintendo game demo.

All those blurbs tell me is that the booth babe at the Wii Sports Resort booth is really really hot.
