You can pre-order without paying upfront. Bestbuy.com is taking pre-orders, so they aren't "earning interest on your money."
However, I actually asked because I believe both just opened pre-orders today.

I thought I read that pre-orders aren't allowed until the publisher gives the retailer the go ahead. Maybe that's just a Nintendo rule, I don't know.
I just hope this means that we get MP3 this year. Nintendo needs to have a killer 1st party schedule leading into and through the holiday season.

These (MP3, SSB, SMG, etc) are potential system sellers, so they held on to them to sell later. True, some of it might have been for futher development... and maybe some is even for online play, but I think it's to help with future console sales.
They still need more than MP3 to have a killer holiday season.

I think it was postponed for online play and to keep tweaking the controls and from impressions they hadn't got them quite perfected yet by last fall/early this spring though it was said to be getting better with each build.
I'm all for the control being spot on, don't care about online though. Not much of a fan of online death matches and Metroid doesn't lend itself well to that type of game play IMO.
The multiplayer in MP2 was dreadful, and the DS game was absolute shit IMO.

Well, the last two days I've been playing Super Paper Mario and have really enjoyed it thus far. The only major complaint I have -- and it's one that I know many other people have had -- is that there is a ton of reading to do. I've finished two chapters, I think, and there's still so much to read.
I've also been having some issues with my WiiConnect. I had to forward some ports on my computer recently. Since I was already messing around with my router, I decided to do that change setting to 1 or 11 thing that has been recommended. After making all of my router changes, I lost my connection to my Wii. No biggie, I just recreated a new wireless connection. Keep in mind that I rarely ever had any problems before making this change. It's just something I did thinking it would run a bit more efficiently. Anyway, now with the new wireless connection, when I go to something requiring WiiConnect, it says there's a problem with WiiConnect and I can't access that feature. After that, I go to the Wii settings menu and do a connection test, at which point it tells me my connection is working. After that, I have no WiiConnect problems. But why do I now have to an Internet check when starting the Wii every time? Should I start another new connection? Could it be a setting on my router?

there's way too many movie themed games out and coming out.....
I will probably pick up Mario Party 8, but there's not much of interest before or after it's release......that I know of

Unless there are some summer release dates announced (or I really love the rentals), I'm probably don't have any definate buys until at least Sept.

By the way, for the first time since my router alternations, WiiConnect was online when I started my Wii on my dinner break a little earlier. I guess the issues worked themselves out ...

Heh, the Wii version of RE4 is worth it for the controls and the 16x9 Gamecube-ish (presumably) graphics alone.
Especially for that price. Can't wait!

Somehow I never played RE4 either. Since the Wii version is only $10 more, it's a no-brainer to wait.
Here's the Japanese trailer (in English for some reason). It's pretty good:

Resident Evil 4, it gets you laid.
That reminds me of that episode of Spaced... Where Simon Pegg plays Resident Evil 2 on speed for several days and starts seeing zombies everywhere.
