Looks like I'm in the beta for Warhawk too. Think it'll be a download option tomorrow?

Log in there and it will tell you which betas (if any) you're currently in. Looks like I'm in the Warhawk beta too.
Also, the beta runs from 5/24 until 6/26.

HOT. HOT. HOT!
PS3 Firmware 1.8
1080p upscaling for DVDs, PS2 and PS1 games. Whether or not the PS3 natively boosts the resolution of games isn't specified, but any form of upscaling should soften the visual blows received from that fancy HDTV of yours. Upscaled DVD movies won't compare well to Blu-ray movies, but it'll at least tide you over until American Ninja 4 gets a release on Sony's format. Note that DVD movies can only be upconverted using an HDMI connection.

I realize the Pirates game is a terrible game no one should be buying anyway, but I am really saddened to see this yet again on a PS3 review.
Sigh. With development budgets tight and the 360 the lead sku its really going to be rough on PS3 owners.
As for framerate, the 360 version runs smooth, while the PS3 is a jaggy mess that chugs along in slow motion.

FW 1.8 also includes the ability for owners can now view multimedia stored on a DLNA-enabled media center PC "seamlessly".
How do I know if I have a DLNA enabled PC? Do I have to be running Media Center of Vista OS?

Checked the PS3 tonight and the Warhawk Beta is there. Cool.
Also, the 1.8 update lets you transfer saves back and forth to the PS2 and PS1 memory cards. This is very important to me.

For those who've had problems with the PS3 having a washed out look, there are more settings in the Display section now with Version 1.8 that should help remedy the problem. Fixed my issues!

While I'm sure the DVD upscaling will make many happy, I am disappointed that 4:3 SD material on BDs (extras) are still not upscaled and still stretch to fill a 16x9 display. This means I have to manually switch the projector to 4:3 when viewing such material, and forget about using my computer monitor which has no controls for pillarboxing. That was the only reason I wanted upscaling in the first place, since I don't use the PS3 to watch DVDs. Oh well, maybe someday. It's hard to complain with all the other stuff that got added.
