I know there isn't a VGA cable for the PS3, but is there any way to hook up a PS3 to a PC monitor? Would using a HDMI to DVI converter work? Also, does the PS3 let you choose your resolution like the 360 does?

You cannot choose the resolution. Whatever the source is, that is what will be output. Some games let you choose though. Another thing: my monitor crops 720p input a little (to adjust for overscan?) and then stretches that to fill the screen, which is lame as the edges of games are cut off. So, if you're looking for a new monitor to buy, you'll want to carefully research it to find out how it handles 1080p and 720p from the PS3. I know I wish I would have done that.

How would I find out if my monitor supports HDCP? It did not come with a manual at all. This is my monitor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824254001 Nothing on that site mentions HDCP either.
Its native resolution is 1440x900 which is 16x10. I play my 360 on it and it looks fine. The 360 does not support 1440x900 but it does do 1280x768 which is also 16x10 and the resolution I play at.

Sony plans 34 new games this fiscal year
Bloomberg earlier reported that the strategists at Sony are planning to release 34 titles for the PlayStation 3 game console this fiscal year which started last March and ends in March of next year. The company says that this will help cut the big financial losses that Sony experienced during the last quarter.
According to Sony's US game CEO Jack Tretton, 19 of these titles will be first-party and 15 of them will come from third-party developers. "We got into the business to be successful and we got into it to make money," says Tretton. "Now, we've got to make sure we remember why we got into the business and how it applies to the PS3."
This, Tretton believes, is among the first steps to recovery and duplication of the dominant standings that the original PlayStation and the PlayStation 2 enjoyed. Analysts, however, are showing strong doubts in that claim, pointing out that in the last fiscal quarter, the PS3 was in last place among the new consoles in the market with only 501,000 units sold in the US compared to market leader Nintendo Wii that made more than double that volume.
A key factor, says the Bloomberg report, in winning over the fans again is getting great, exclusive titles for the platform. The first two PlayStations had a lock on powerhouse third-party franchises such as Grand Theft Auto and Devil May Cry, but Sony is now seeing those gems dock into Microsoft's Xbox 360. Analysts see this as a manifestation of developers not feeling secure enough in the Sony fold to sign exclusive deals.
It's been said a million times, but it doesn't become any less true: Pricing has become a telling factor in this ball game. Sony, however, says it isn't closing the doors on price cuts. "If that means it's going to cost us more to make than we can sell it for in the short term, that's OK, because it's going to pay off in spades in the long run," says Tretton. Analysts agree, saying that chip prices should be significantly lower come 2009, making price reduction more feasible.
While there's been some serious bleeding in its video game division, Sony says that the company in general will note suffer deficits. Strength of TV sales has been better than ever, resulting in big profits. Sony expects 2009 to be the break-out year of the PS3, which isn't really too late when you consider that they've committed a decade to the system.

Two SOCOM games headed to the PS3
It can be recalled that during Sony's Spring Gamers Day 2007, it was announced that Slant Six games (the people responsible for the PSP title, SOCOM Tactical Strike) will be developing a multiplayer-only game called SOCOM: Confrontation. Well, apparently that isn't the only SOCOM game headed for the Sony PlayStation 3.
1UP reports that the developers of the original SOCOM franchise, Zipper Interactive, is still working on its own new SOCOM game for the PS3. 1UP's understanding of it is that this one will feature single-player and multiplayer gameplay, and an extra long development window will allow Zipper to do new things for the franchise.
It is speculated that the game could be released around fall 2008.

Finally broke down and bought Flow tonight. If I didn't start playing something on my PS3 soon I have a feeling my wife was either going to sell it or burn it. There are a number of good games on the horizon for this system that I couldn't risk the loss.

I picked up FLOW also.....I feel like I wasted $5, but I guess I'll have to play it more. I also HATE how Sony makes you load up your wallet for a purchase. They most be making a killing on all the pennies they steal from us basically. What am I supposed to spend $0.01 on now?
I wonder how many downloads they have total on the premium content. If it's a million people, they are making an extra $10,000 for doing nothing. It's like the McDonalds syndrome. They have a $1 menu, while other have a $0.99 menu.

The last thing I bought on the PSN was Calling All Cars, and I was able to pay the exact amount. I added the game to my cart and went to checkout, at which point it asked if I wanted to add funds to the wallet. I clicked "Yes" and it pre-filled the amount to the exact cost of the game. That's how it's worked for me since the beginning - I've never had leftover funds in the wallet.

Yeah, just don't add the funds until after you've added the game you want and go to checkout. It'll let you add the exact amount that way.

I just found this thing on newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16815260001
It looks like it converts composite/component cables to VGA. Would this let me connect a PS3 to a PC monitor even if the monitor isn't HDCP compliant?

Just bought Flow last night. The whole "flow" of the online transaction is tedious:
1. Navigate to PS3 store, click on "buy"
2. item is in cart with price
3. Not enough funds in wallet so you have to add money
4. Set up credit card for transaction
5. Drop down list of pre-set amounts (5, 10, 15, etc.)
6. Money is put into wallet
7. (Finally) checkout, price is debited from wallet
I didn't see an option to just put enough money in the wallet to make the purchase. While keeping the penny is not much different from having to buy a set amount of points from Xbox marketplace and having leftover, if they're only going to allow you to put certain amounts in they should just round off all the prices.
BTW, anyone have to pay tax?

Log in there and it will tell you which betas (if any) you're currently in. Looks like I'm in the Warhawk beta too.
Also, the beta runs from 5/24 until 6/26.
