My opinion is F'em, but I do understand. The fact that keyboard and mouse users have a major advantage if anything speaks to how much better a set up it is for FPS games. Nice to know that UT3 will support it.

That's the reason I always hear as well. I still wish more games would allow it though. I hate using a controller for shooters, but I liked Resistance enough to get used to it. Anyone who gives up on Resistance after 10 minutes is doing themselves a disservice, as it really turns out to be a fun game.

Thanks for the router suggestions....I believe my WRT54G is a Ver.5. I'll screw around with settings. I have my 360 hardwired, and downloads are fast on that. The PS3 is hardwired, slow. My PC hardwired...SUPER FAST.

Laptop is wireless and that is fine also. I may try doing wireless again on PS3....maybe that'll work.

Oh, dang. According to the DD-WRT info, versions 5 and 6 are considered "neutered" because they have less RAM and flash memory than previous versions. You couldn't use the standard version of DD-WRT, just the micro with very limited features, and even then there's a possibility you could brick the router.

BTW, I have a question about the Bluetooth remote. When I press the PS button on it, is it normal for the black screen (that asks to shut down the controller or system) to indicate "7" next to the controller icon, with the 3 and 4 red lights on? I just thought that was odd and I wanted to check. Is it telling me that the remote is controller 7, and why?

One more question. I have my 60GB PS3 hardwired.....do I have to disable the wireless? Would that be causing a conflict with my slow downloads?

There's a thread in the HD section mentioning that having wireless enabled has caused problems with BD playback. I'm not sure about downloads. I have a 20gig model so I don't have to worry about it.

I'm about to jump into the PS3 bandwagon.... Just bought one on ebay and waiting for it to ship.. I got one HELL of a deal, PS3 20 gig model, 5 games (ridge racer, resistance, full auto 2, tony hawk 8 and nfs:carbon), talladega nights, and extra controller for 600...

I am pretty excited. I had a wii, but sold it to a friend i worked with. It was fun, but the combination of not having HD, and the different control schemes kind of conflicted. It was a fun system, but just wasn't for me.

Was able to sell my wow account, so it payed for most of it, lol

Just waiting for the Nyko PS2-PS3 controller adaptor to come out. Gonna pick up Guitar Hero and see what all the buzz is about.

Yeah, it's just telling you that it is controller 7. I seem to remember that there are 7 ports for bluetooth on each machine. I think the bluetooth remote is automatically assigned to the last port, makes sense to me. That way you can have up to 6 controllers going on one machine...

Congrats dude, I think you're gonna really like it. I just got mine a couple of weeks ago and have really been enjoying it. I've only picked up Resistance and a couple of Blu-ray discs, but there are so many demos and such, that I'm perfectly content for the moment...

Gotta say I am curious about this as well now. I would do anything to improve my download speeds.

Well hell. I tried to download stuff yesterday and now I'm getting the super slow downloads as well. I'm hooked up wireless, but my Wii and Xbox are using the same router and have no issues at all.

anybody else use the remote link option with their psp?
I find it works fairly well and allows me to stream video content and music off the ps3

The only problem i've been having is with video quality, anybody have any programs that will make the video you put on the ps3 look good?

Ok, so I just took the PS3 plunge... Should have it this week. Now, I dont know a whole lot about it (got it mainly as a BD player) but is it possible to play the new God of War game on it? What does it take to make the PS2 games backwards compatible?

Congrats on your purchase. You'll be able to play pretty much any PS1 or PS2 game on it (there are a few exceptions) right out of the box. You'll want to download the latest version of firmware, either through the System Update feature on your console or by downloading it on Sony's website then transferring to your PS3 via memory device. This firmware features a fix that will keep your PS2 games from looking so "jaggy." I hope you enjoy it.

They talk about Ratchet and Clank at around 33 mins in. He says it looks better than the video or any screens shown so far. Can't wait for this game.

As a matter of fact, i'm playing GoW right now on the PS3. Gotta tell you, the freaking game looks awesome on my 56" DLP! First, you'll need component or HDMI, then you'll need to turn the progressive scan option on the in game. I can't believe that game is for PS2, really! The graphic is comparable to the Wiis (actually better, if you compare to some games like Raving Rabbit).

Again, i'm not saying that to boost the PS3 and what nots. I judge it from my play times with my Wii and PS3. And yes, both Wii and PS3 are hooked via component...

However, the GoW game got a bug or something? The first boss can't be killed, it's like the game went through an inifinite loop or something... I read it in a walkthrough.

I just read this on AVS:

PS3 Firmware 1.6 details

March 19, 2007 - Sony has at last provided details on version 1.6 of the PS3's system software. This is the highly anticipated update whose release was being timed for the 3/23 launch of the European/PAL PS3. The update will actually arrive just before that, on 3/22.

The biggest new feature for the update is something that was previously confirmed by company executives: background downloading. With Version 1.6 installed, you'll be able to use the PS3 for other things while downloading large or multiple files. Sony states that there are some limitations to this feature, but these won't be announced until the day of the update's availability.

Those who use their PSP as a remote media viewer for the PS3 have something to look forward with version 1.6. Previously, the PSP had to connect directly to the PS3 in order to access media, meaning you had to be in the same area as the PS3, and only owners of the 60 Gig model could take advantage of the feature. Version 1.6 adds the ability to access the PS3 from a wireless point in your home, bringing 20 Gig users in on the action, and presumably allowing additional freedom of movement. Not quite the worldwide access we were hoping for, but this is at least a step in the right direction.

Sony is adding a bonus for those who make use of the system's software keyboard during text entry. Version 1.6 adds the option for a full-size keyboard, for those who aren't satisfied with the current cell phone-style entry system.

Other new features affect the system's web browser. The browser will now detect your video-out settings and set the standard font size accordingly, and even deal with nasty interlacing artifacts. You'll also be able to make use of a new "pin-point zoom" feature to zoom in on pages.

All that, along with the previously announced Folding@Home support should make for one hell of an update. There could be even more to the update than Sony has announced here, so be sure and power up your PS3 on the 22nd to experience version 1.6 first hand.
