So anything special about NBA Street Homecoming on the PS3, that I should consider getting it over the 360 version (which has those stupidly addictive achievement points)?

I think you can download save files for the PS3 version to unlock stuff, whereas, I don't think that is an option for x-box games in general. Great if you want to fully enjoy the game, without spending alot of time unlocking things.

My PS3 was pissing me off for the last couple of days. The wireless went down and wouldn't stay up. I've been racking my brain, trying to fix the damn thing, seriously, I've spent hours on this stupid issue and almost resigned myself to wait for another firmware update. But I decided to try a little more and discovered that my SSID was being broadcast twice. I'm like, what the crap? Turns out my Airport Express I use to beam iTunes to my home theater was broadcasting the same SSID on another channel. I must have some settings wrong on it, and it must've confused the hell outta my PS3. Once I pulled the Airport Express out, my PS3 connected with no problems. Sorry for the boring story, but it's just a great feeling when you finally fix something and learn that your $600 system wasn't even at fault... Now excuse me while I go watch some Bond...
P.S. I love this thing!

My PS3 just downloads too damn slow.....I know it has to be a setting within the router and PS3. I have the 60GB model, but I hardwired it with a WRT54G router.
Oh well....I don't play it much anyways.

Anyway, Little Big Planet has some pretty awesome graphics, but the gameplay looks pretty boring. What's the point -- to just build things and watch them work in a virtual world?

Not sure what to change though, as I'm not big in re-assigning stuff on routers. I do have the latest firmware installed in my router though.

I was doing the system update for my brother's new PS3 and it took several minutes to get to 1%, and this is with a wired connection. I said "screw it" and downloaded the update on my PC (which took less than five minutes on the same router) to transfer to a USB drive to put on his system. He downloaded a couple of games, which also went slowly but picked up somewhat after midnight.
I wonder how much of the slow download speed is due to their servers, or lack thereof. I know supporters love to be able to say it's free because Xbox Live is not, but somebody has to pay for those servers. Perhaps if they charged for the service we would get faster downloads. I know they wouldn't charge for system updates or paid downloads, but maybe they could have better servers for these downloads if they charged regular online game players.
BTW DJ_Longfellow, I have the same router as you, although I hear there are several different versions of that router. Apparently some of the newer ones aren't as good. Mine is Ver. 2. I have the DD-WRT firmware on it though (don't install this if you don't know what you're doing!).

I spent a few hours yesterday messing with my network equipment and I finally improved my entire setup. I have AT&T Callvantage and the D-Link TA/router was installed in front of my Linksys WRT54GS router(as per the instructions). my download speeds always seemed fine except for file sharing and my PS3. the most I could get on a download on the PS3 was around a solid 1300kbps. I did get the occasional fluke test of around 1900kbps max but that only happened I think twice. uploads across my entire network maxed out at 370kbps. port forwarding was another disaster altogether.
what I ended up doing was getting my AT&T box setup behind my Linksys and afterwards I was completely floored on the improvement I saw on everything. my wired laptop which used to see speeds of around 7400-8000kbps was now showing speeds of 16000kbps and up. my uploads skyrocketed to 2300kbps and above.
my PS3 downloads are now showing anywhere from 2500-3200kbps which is a nice improvement from before.
here's a tip I learned over at AVS - change your router to channel 11 and if you can try B only mode and see if your PS3 downloads at a faster rate. use the PS3 browser and go to www.speakeasy.net/speedtest and try it out. it made mine faster by doing this.
EDIT: I just noticed something of an issue by setting to B mode only. I cannot login to XBox Live as it is running in G mode. oh well I guess back to mixed mode for me and if I want to download something on the PS3 I'll just switch it back.

I'm glad a few others were confused by the Little Big Planet/Wii comment. I didn't think I was missing anything.
I went into Blockbuster today to rent a game and was happy to see a few new PS3 titles on the shelf. My local store is a bit slow getting new releases but their selection was up to date today.

Borrowed Resistance and have to say this game is a huge missed opportunity.
The PS3 has 4 USB ports and supports a standard keyboard and mouse, but there is no option for this in a FPS?
FPS games suck balls with a standard controller. I gave up after 10 minutes. I simply find it impossible to aim with an analog stick. I can't believe its 2007 and developers are still designing FPS games without an option for the keyboard and mouse control. I like the PS3, but will still buy all my FPS games for the PC.

i'm having the same issue, i can't aim
then again, i suck at FPS games... However, most people told me that you just have to get use to the control (even the X360 players), it takes some times to get use to (i'm still working on it).

I never could get used to the PS2/3 analog setup for FPS games, they're just piss poorly placed on the controller. It drives me nuts. They need an option for other supported controller types (360 pad is ideal for FPS games) and/or a m+kb.

I think allowing Keyboard/mouse support would handicap all players who didn't use that control scheme, which is why no console FPS to this point has used it. Plus, I'm not sure the PS3 has a compatible mouse.
