I was thinking the same thing. No one is going to buy any of this stuff if there aren't any systems being sold.

i think the 799 price is for the "platinum bundle" -- otherwise known as a bunch of crap you probably do not want or need plus the premium system.

At the bottom it says it includes a controller, play and charge kit, battery pack and remote.

The total for that doesn't even come near $799. They are just gouging the prices to make a quick buck, just like the ebayers.

One of the above linked sites said that there'd be more units in stores by the end of this week, just in time for the weekend. I'm waiting 'til Thursday or Friday to even go looking, and I may check one or two places very early on Saturday.

I'm not planning on putting too much effort into it, though. I honestly can't afford it right now with Christmas so close, and after having just paid off my credit cards I'm not too keen on using them again any time soon. Of course, if I happen to see one of these things on the shelf I'll snatch it up in a heartbeat.

Well, MS had been claiming that there would be shipments weekly. Shipments for last Tuesday's launch arrived in stores on the previous Saturday/Monday. Their own spokesperson says that the next shipment should be arriving at stores on Friday/Saturday. That's nearly 2 weeks... not 1 week.

The 2 week time period is consistent with what I've been told by Sam Goody, GameStop, and EB. Those stores are still trying to fill pre-orders that were taken back in Sept. Not to mention how much of what is received will go directly to ebay.

Yes, this launch was botched. Not because stock was immediately sold out on Tuesday, but because there were no units available for sale on Black Friday and because they are not holding to their weekly shipment plan.

I did manage to get a 360 (thanks to the kindness of a friend). This is indeed one hot console. Not only as a gaming console (which is very impressive), but as an entertainment console... being able to wirelessly pull off music and photos from my PC is very convenient.

So how many units in these upcoming shipments will be hoarded by employees for ebay sale? Many boards have had BB employees bragging about being able to save as many as they want from future shipments ... just curious.

Less at the Targets and Walmarts than at the Best Buys & Circuit Cities.

Walmart, being the world's largest retailer (and company IIRC), gets the largest shipments of 360s, with close to 18%. Best Buy gets the 2nd largest group with just a bit under that (15 or 16%).

Tell me about it. I stood in line next to a BB employee who was telling everyone that he was going to get 5 and put them all on ebay. What an asshole.

No I was replying to SilentBob above. I think the BB drones are more Ebay savvy than your typical Walmart or Target drones, and more likely to cherry pick the 360s before they hit the floor.

I know the USA Today article was already posted above but thought I'd post this one as well. I like the last sentance.
http://xbox360.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3145986
If Microsoft keeps good on their promise of weekly replenished quantities of Xbox 360 machines, those crafty eBayers should be out of work soon enough.

An article in USA Today quotes Microsoft spokesperson Molly O'Donnell as stating the first follow-up shipment has already gone out. Gamers anxious to join the next-generation movement should start checking retailer websites and stores starting at the end of the week, when the shipments start rolling in.

The additional machines should come as a relief to both gamers and retailers alike. GameStop announced its third quarter results this morning and expressed concern over the lack of Xbox 360 availability. "Our only concern is that the total hardware released to date in the U.S., and to GameStop, are far less than we had anticipated. While we expect to be supplied throughout the holiday season, the exact quantities to be shipped are not yet clear," said chairman and CEO R. Richard Fontaine.

In the meantime, keep calling and annoying the poor workers in the electronics departments until those shipments finally show up.

good lookin' out - I ran out of the ones I had (prematurely gave them to some friends because I thought I was done spending), but these worked just as well. Because of my crappy printer, the BB scanner wouldn't scan the UPC code on the coupon, so she had to hand enter the coupon which requires manager approval. Tthe manager came over and signed off on it without giving a crap that it was a copy.

A co-worker's MIL is a stocker at Target and he was trying to get her to get one for him when they came in and she said they would not allow it, they were for customers only. Too bad I do not know anyone at BB anymore, or at least not in the media department.

That may be true on average, but I know it isn't true where I live. I spoke the the local Xbox rep for retailers, and he said Wal-Mart was getting the least of any retailer. Costco by far got the most in the first shipment, with 90 units.

Well, I don't have the exact numbers, but I'm sure there are a lot more Walmarts than there are Best Buys or Costcos, so the per-store average could be higher in the latter two even if the total allocation per company is lower.

When I was trying to get my PS2 at launch (after Amazon reallocated my preorder), I found, surprisingly, that a good source of information was the gamefaqs system board. There's a ton of traffic there, and while you have to sort out the noise, there are a lot of members there going every day to see when the systems arrive. Shipments will vary regionally, but you can at least see whether second shipments have started to come in.

Consider yourself lucky...the three costco's nearest me got a total of ZERO 360s in.

Yeah, I've been on this boards a bunch these past few days. The big problem is you get board-wide rumors like the one that said Best Buy was getting a huge shipment for Black Friday. Wasn't true at all. But there is some good info on there.

Is the production ratio of premiums and cores staying consistent now that the release date has passed?

I dunno... I haven't been following that closely since I already have one, but I haven't heard much info about ANY second shipments coming in yet, so it's probably too early to say. I would assume the ratio would stay the same, though, since any decision to change it would have had to been made months ago.
