Although JCPennys can charge what they want I think Microsoft would be interested to know they are marking up the systems that much. Microsoft is loosing money on each system and you have a company like JCPenny try to screw people on system. They are a retailer which means they should at least be close to retail price. I'm sure Microsoft can send they allocation to a company that will sell them for retail.

This launch is really starting to piss me off. I am all ready to go out and buy the system + 4 games + wireless adapter. I just can't find the damn thing. I have had no trouble buying any other system during the launch time (even PS2 which I aquired rather easily, still works perfect too.)
I was told at Wal Mart today that there would be no more systems till "June". Yes the guy said June. My mom knows more about videogames than a Wal Mart employee so I let it go.
It really REALLY pisses me off how some stores (Media Play and Toys R Us in particular.) Have display system boxes right next to the games. I think that they have them in stock and then the employee always gives me the "none till next year" response.
I hope the rumor of systems shipping this week is true. Then I can finally get one and actually play the thing. Screw the ebay scaplers.

Working at Gamestop, we most likely will not meet reservations by Christmas as anticipated. We are supposed to get more units and get resupplied before anyone else since we have the largest market share (combined with EB now)...does not look good for anyone trying to just walk-in and buy a system anywhere.

Based on how this all played out, I still wouldn't pre-order either of the other systems. I'd still take my chances on release day again.

Keep Checking Back for Xbox 360
Today, a couple of us spent a good deal of the day today pouring over feedback from forums and blogs. There are a couple of particularly nasty rumors that I’d love to address. I know Molly continues to work with the mainstream press, so you should expect news stories to continue.
Recall Rumors are 100% False: The nastiest RUMOR that’s making the rounds is that Microsoft is going to do some sort of a recall of the Xbox 360. Several forum threads I’ve seen are talking about folks going into retailers, only to be told that there will be no more units coming because of a Microsoft recall. NOT TRUE! If you're told this by a retailer, let me know.
Replenishment Units Are On The Ground: Also, there are reports of some retailers saying they won’t have units for weeks or months. Also not true (in most cases). My theory is that some people might be tired of the constant calls, so they’ve made something up to get people to quit calling. We are shipping units constantly (we have chartered 747’s regularly flying in with units). Some retailers have a backorder wait list, and might not have units that will be on shelf for some time, and some retailers might allocate more units to one store over another, but all stores that have placed orders are getting replenishments regularly.
In fact, we have confirmation that units are on the ground and on their way to retailers this week. When those will go from our warehouses to retailer warehouses, then to retailer locations is largely up to those retailers, so there’s no easy way to say which store will get product on which day. You should call your local retailer to find out. We remain on track to ship 2.75 to 3.0 million consoles in the first 90 days.
Hardware Replacements in as Few as 5-7 Days: I saw a couple of posts where people with problems were postponing calling 800-4MYXBOX. Not sure if it’s because of long wait times (now the rush of launch is beginning to die down, those are diminishing), or that they think they might be weeks without a console. Truth is that we’re turning around replacement/repaired units extremely quickly, in as few as 5-7 business days. Our support reps have been trained to troubleshoot your problems over the phone. When a return is necessary, we overnight a prepaid box to you, which allows you to overnight your console back to us. In most cases, we troubleshoot/repair/replace your Xbox 360 in 1-2 days, and we overnight it back. We planned for world-class customer satisfaction, and have plenty of consoles, parts, and trained employees to handle the volume.
We're Not Holding Back: I’m continue to see comments/questions about Microsoft holding back inventory to keep the price inflated/keep hype going. We have shipped every console we’ve made, and we’re making more as fast as we can. Fact is, there is significantly more demand than supply, and will be for some time. We’re all gamers, and we all understand how frustrating it is to wait. We’re doing all we can to get Xbox 360 controllers into the hands of those that have waited so long. But believe me when I say, we aren't holding units, and we're not creating hype for hype's sake. There's no good economic justification for that (but that's the subject for another blog post...).
That's it for now...

Damn Circuit City. I go in and see a X-Box 360 box only to find out that it's a DISPLAY ONLY. I thought I might've been lucky. They shouldn't put them out there because people get all excited only to find out it's an empty box.

I was part of a 'first shipment' here at an EBgames near me, and I'm still about 150 in line after launch. Will I see mine before Christmas, even though I was guaranteed first shipment? Probably not.

For those still seeking a 360 and by chance decide to secure one via evilbay…. Be careful:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=8238701118
Edit to add:
Actually that seller may have had his account hijacked. I can't imagine a seller that has accumulated such a good feedback would risk their reputation and account.

Went into Best Buy the other day and saw a Premium and a Core system on a bottom shelf in the back corner of the video game aisle (in the Xbox 360 section, but hardly prominent.)
And, you guessed it, empty display boxes. Now I could understand it (it's annoying, but I understand it) if they put the empties in the window or in some kind of display, but on a bottom shelf in a back corner right where the systems would be if they had them is just cruel!

I went into Wal-Mart today and talked to my good friend who happens to be the Electronics Dept. Manager. He showed me an e-mail from Wal-Mart's home office about the 360 shortages. The e-mail said that stores will not get another shipment of 360s until right before Christmas. This really sucks and blows.

Any confirmation that some stores (like BB) are allowing employees to buy up the second shipments? This may be a factor in how and when we'll see more actually in the store.

You know damn well that some dude who works in the freight dock / stock room is going to jump on his cell phone and call everyone he knows as soon as the 360's arrive.

Xbox 360 explodes back onto US shop shelves
30 Nov 2005 1:02pm
Fresh shipments expected to land in US stores on Friday
Microsoft has come good on its promise to replenish Xbox 360 stocks as quickly as possible by announcing that US shop shelves will receive a second batch of consoles at the end of this week.
It’s great news for US gamers disappointed after the Xbox 360 launched across North America last week and promptly sold out quicker than you could say “high-definition”.
Speaking to USA Today, um, yesterday, Microsoft’s Molly O’Donnell said that replacement stock was, “on the way, and it should be on retailers' shelves by the end of the week or for the weekend." O’Donnell also emphasised Microsoft’s commitment to the “weekly replenishment strategy” that Microsoft executives have been bandying around since the first fears of an Xbox 360 stock shortage reared their heads back in September.
And high ranking Xbox 360 exec Peter Moore recently told us that he was doing everything possible to get more consoles on shelves, saying, “We've got two factories working 24 hours a day. We've got air freight running as well as boats, because you can get more units on boats. All we can do is make them as fast as we can and ship them as fast as we can."
The news comes as a relief both for Xbox 360-hunting North Americans and us Europeans, since we’re facing the console’s launch on this continent on Friday. The fact that Microsoft is – as promised – making sure consoles are landing on shelves week after week should prevent the kind of stock droughts that have afflicted other games systems like Sony’s PSP.
Not content with giving hope to legions of gamers desperate for an Xbox 360, O’Donnell then addressed some of the technical problems reported by owners of the console. "We are doing everything we can to take care of gamers who are having problems," she said, before pointing out that disgruntled owners were well under the 3 usually suffered by new electronic devices.
Keep it www.OXM.co.uk for more information on the European Xbox 360 launch direct from Peter Moore. Our full interview is coming later today.

So it looks like Friday/Saturday will see a few more 360s hitting the shelves. But I'll believe it when I see it . . .

It's pretty sad to see these things selling for over 800 on ebay.
What product besides video game consoles can you make 100% profit in such a short time? Even limited cars like a M3 don't go for double their cost.

A guy who works at Target told me Microsoft sent them a memo saying to tell everyone "No more shipments until 2006," so that it would be "more fair" when they get weekly shipments. Don't know if that's true or not, but it's not hard for me to believe it.
