Went into my local Target today to get some christmas stuff and swung by the game section...nada. I asked one of the guys working there when the next shipment will be and he said that he has no idea because Microsoft is keeping them in the dark. He did say however that he expects one more shipment before christmas. But he didn't seem to confident. It was more like, "eh we should get in another shipment before christmas..."

I'll be checking tommorow as I pick up Family Guy volume 3. Wouldn't it be nice if there was that familiar white box just sitting there by itself waiting for me to purchase it?

Call your local Radio Shack if you're trying to find one. I don't know if all Radio Shacks are doing this, but the one near me is taking orders on it. As soon as they get a shipment from the warehouse, they call you, you pay over the phone, and they ship it from the warehouse to your door. If Microsoft is really sending 360s once a week, then it shouldn't take very long to get one. The guy even said they check the warehouse once an hour!

Anyone else getting the "not until after Jan" reply? That's really obnoxious and exactly the reason why MS needs to get these stores as much INFO as POSSIBLE ASAP.

So who was around when the PS2 was hard to get during Xmas? How did Sony & the stores handle it? I was too busy playing my Dreamcast to pay attention.

Me too.

Honestly, I think everyone that didn't get a 360 at launch is better of just not worrying about it for a while. There are some good games there, but there's plenty to play on the X-box, PS2 and GC now and those games will be just as fun in Jan/Feb when the 360 can be bought without any stress or searching.

If you find one tomorrow "just sitting there by itself waiting for you to purchase it" I'll buy it for you.

Don't get your hopes up

Anyone remember what the original Xbox release was like? I might mine after it came out. It was the Christmas season and I was at the mall when a video game store brought out a batch of Xboxes. And just like that, I whipped out my credit card.

I remember it well, and it was handled very well by retailers because they actually allowed you to buy a raincheck. There was no reason for people to feel lost like they would never get one because as soon as they got them in they would call the people who had already bought them, oh and if I remember it correctly they actually knew when they were going to be getting shipments as well, so I'd say Sony actually did a better job also.

That's a bunch of b.s. Sony sent out their initial shipment, and there were no additional shipments for MONTHS.

Okay Then explain the fact that I purchased one on launch day and my brother ended up with a raincheck that turned into a PS2 in his hands about a week and a half later. Nice of you to chime in though.

I just checked my local wally-world and was told that they won't be getting any until MARCH! I told the lady that the rumor was there would be weekly shipments and she told me that she had just checked her list and there were no Xbox 360's on it, just games and peripherals. She then said that unless they make a liar out of her by sending them without notifiying her first that I shouldn't expect one till March.

Can you say botched launch?

I like how Gamestop has had $50 of ours for a couple months, and we haven't even heard from them.

With all the bitching and complaining it may be free adverstising but is it good publicity? Of course I suppose any publicity, good or bad, is good publicity.

Makes you wonder.. with all the stores getting accessories and games in, who is going to buy them if new systems don't come out until March? Those things will be sitting on the shelf taking up space with less and less people buying.

I can't imaging MS won't be releasing more until then.

Found this link at the XBox Users Group website
XBox 360 Retailer Tracker

Gives you a list of some major retailers and regularily checks them to see if they have stock in.

It is botched in that they aren't providing folks like the "local wally-world lady" with info on when the next batch is coming in. Notice the USA Today article says there will be another shipment by the end of the week. This lack of information gives these retail folks with creative imaginations license to make up whatever the hell they want to tell people. I think they get some sort of sick pleasure out of saying "Not until March" and watching your face melt.
