Keep in mind that no price has been announced yet. Microsoft has only said that the price of the 360 + HD-DVD addon will be less than a PS3. Based on that, I believe it will be $199 or less.
360 Core $299 + HD-DVD $199 < $499 PS3 Core
360 Premium $399 + HD-DVD $199 < $599 PS3 Premium

The only way $249 works as "a 360 + HD-DVD for less than a PS3" is if MS is comparing a 360 Core + HD-DVD to a PS3 Premium. This may be the plan, but I hope not. $249 is indeed too much IMO.

Man oh man could i get behind Magic on the Xbox. Of course they would most likely make it like the current iteration on the PC where you have to buy booster packs at retail prices and the like online. So it turns into a money/time sink with no actual tangible cards to even show off or trade away.

Just noticed a dedicated forum on xbox.com for Destroy All Humans 2. I hadn't seen anything on these boards about it.

With DAH2 and Mercenaries 2, my list of wanted BC games is dwindling, since I can just pick up the sequels instead.

Xbox 360 outsells the PS2 in the US
By James Orry - 16/05/2006 - 3:56pm GMT

For the month of April the Xbox 360 saw hardware sales of 295,000, eclipsing the PlayStation 2 by 90,000 units.

The hardware and software sales figures for April across the US have been released, and show the Xbox 360 as the top selling platform. The Xbox 360 shifted 295,000 units, a number 90,000 greater than the PlayStation 2, which only managed 205,000 units.

The figures are also very positive for Xbox 360 software sales, which maintained a tie ratio of 4.5, and five of the top six grossing video games were Xbox 360 titles. Placed from second to sixth are the Xbox 360 titles, Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter, Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Major League Baseball 2K6, Battlefield 2: Modern Combat, and Tomb Raider: Legend.

After a successful E3, which saw Microsoft announce a host of exclusive new titles for the Xbox 360, together with exiting plans for Xbox Live, things are certainly looking good for the Xbox 360. The console has now sold approximately 1.5 million units in the US and Microsoft is hoping to reach worldwide sales of 10 million by the time the PlayStation 3 hits the market in November.

I got to play some games today with forum members I had never gamed with before.

Are there many people here who own Battlefield 2? I rented the game and I am really having fun with it. I'd be tempted to buy it if there was interest in a clan. It's depressing that the single player game reuses the same maps so many times but other than that I am really enjoying the offline portion of the game as well.

So I guess no one is playing "Blazing Angels" right? I figure it's the "Crimson Skies" of the 360. I've been playing the Demo and it's pretty sweet.

But then again I think many of you get motion sickness just playing Halo.

Am I the only one that has a problem with this? A Next gen system outselling a 6 1/2 year old system? That should be happening every month. Who are these 100,000 people a month still buying PS2s anyway? Doesn't everyone on the planet have one already?

My friend convinced me the game was worth renting so I had him keep his online rental copy until I could get MY rental copy. I simply could not get into the game. I wanted to try the online portion of the game to see if it would offer more entertainment but there might as well of been virtual tumbleweeds rolling across the screen because nobody was ever on when I tried to play. My buddy was offline for a day or two and by the time he was back on......I had shipped my rental copy back off.

Anyone here with an Australian 360 know if the Japanese Fight Night 3 works in this region? I've seen a couple of websites with region listings but no one seems to have tested it in my situation.

Yeah I know what you mean. But then again I still see people buying new PS2s all the time. PS2 is still the "in" system even after all these years. I wouldn't be surprised if the PS2 keeps selling tons of units even after PS3 ships.

The PS2 is $130, the Xbox 360 is $300 or $400, that's THREE TIMES the cost if you get the premium Xbox. The PS2 has hundreds of great sub-$20 games, the Xbox 360 has a couple of great $60 games, again THREE TIMES the cost for individual games. There are still plenty of new PS2 games coming out as well. Hell, I'd buy another PS2 before I even thought about a 360 right now and I have one that works 100% already. Much like your comment that Nintendo should not release anymore games for Gamecube, you falsely assume that EVERYONE will immediately jump into new hardware and completely abandon current hardware.

THREE TIMES the cost..True.. 1,000 TIMES Better then the PS2?? VERY TRUE..

If I was offered a PS2 ($130) and 17 $20 games ($340) = $470 I would still take the 360 and ONE game.. Yea, it's that good...

Couple it with HD and

The problem with that is that not everyone on the planet owns a gamecube nor are they flying off store shelves. And again, we're not talking 10,000 a month we are talking a hundred thousand. That is an insane amount considering how many are already out there. Then again, I guess we are discussing "shipped" numbers and not "sold" numbers.

This is another thing I have a problem with. This game just came out. There is no fucking way they just whipped out a bunch of new maps in a month. This just reeks of the company holding shit back to make more off the marketplace.

That is one thing that bugs me about downloadable content, the high potential of a company witholding game features that should be there off the shelf just to make a quick buck a few weeks later. It is a slippery slope and one that is not good for the consumer.

Maybe they have people actually WORKING ON maps....thus, they can get them out faster. I think Halo2 waited a LONG time to release maps, but people assume that is the length.

You can have a regular joe off the street create a map in a few days I'm sure.

"shipped"

Still, I don't think it's surprising at all and I was simply contesting your statement of "having a problem" with it. If anything, it just shows that Microsoft still has an uphill battle ahead of them and that the real mark of 360s mainstream success will be the public's reaction to the PS3 price when it hits in November.

Just wanted to chime in with my blog. As you all know I've been w/o my 360 for about two weeks for repairs. Here is my blog today:

Sith Draven's Xbox - 05/18/06

Where is Sith Draven at? I want to disown him. I am putting myself up on eBay ASAP.

well have you ever been to a Wal-Mart or BB when they don't have like fifty PS2s stacked up? I sure haven't. They could probably stop shipment of PS2s and be fine for sales for about six months with the number of systems they have collecting dust in retail stores.

On that note it's nice to see that stores have 3-4 360s at any given time now.

I own a ps2 and a 360, and there isnt a single retail game avail on the 360 that has warranted a purchase yet. I just play the demos here and there along with 2 of the xbox live arcade games. So i would strongly disagree with 1000 times better. A ps2 with 17 games will be a MUCH better option if you're a gamer IMO. But if you already own a ps2 and want the HD Experience, id go to the 360. Gears of War seems like its going to be truely the most amazing shooter experience.

Probably just people adding a 2nd console to their home, car, etc..

I agree, that report is a joke.
