The 3DO was supposed to be an all-encompassing entertainment device as well. That price point destroyed them before they even got out of the gate.

Conversely, I love my 3DO.

It'll be tempting to take advantage of the new HDTV, certainly more interesting than HD-DVD to me.

Speaking of princesses, is the new Phantasy Star online going to be on Xbox 360?

I've never read Pixy Junket and I still have the Vampire Princess on my list of Anime to watch so I can't which one it cooler or more deserving of being mocked.

I will tell you this Pixies are Cooler than princesses because they're all magical n shit, but Miyu is a Vampire Princess and Vampires happen to be the shit. It's a tough call although Kakihara is one sick bastard so I say I win.

Pixies are indeed pretty cool - but Miyu can trap people in their past memories... frozen in time i should say.

Definately check out the 4 OAVs - they are so much better than the TV series imo.

The last one had a fee to play on Live. So, I'd assume that this one will as well.

Bah, none for me then. Too bad really, i played the one on the Dreamcast to death - even had the broadband thing.

Now if i could just get another card battling game for the 360 that would be popular enough to have more than me, Canis, and a boatload of Japanese gamers playing (a la Phantom Dust).

I'd love a card battling game on 360. That would be sweet.

And no Netflix love.. They don't have the Miyu OVA.. Just the TV series.

Yep and it's on my list. That's the reason I haven't moved it up yet though because I want to see the OVAs first

Ugh, no thanks. No month fees for me.. ESPECIALLY on top of the Live fee.

By the way, Pixy Junket isn't a good book, but it had a bad ass title.

Yeah, its on my netflix list, near the bottom for the same reason. I always watch the OVA before the TV series in a show that has both. Since the OVA usually comes out first.

Really I assumed since I'd heard of it, it was probably a classic manga. I don't read much manga so if it hasn't been made into an anime it suprising for me to know what it is.

Yep I try to do the same, That's the same reason I haven't watched R.O.D. yet and I really want to see that one.

Edit* lots of Japanese references in these forums

Ohh. you definetly need to check out R.O.D
Great series.

I've got the OVA on its way to me. finished the TV series. But I had seen the OVA a year ago, so its now just refresher material.

Xbox 360 with HD-DVD to be priced below PS3
Rob Fahey 13:18 16/05/2006

New information raises prospect of high-definition video Xbox 360 bundles

Retail sources in the UK have told GamesIndustry.biz that Microsoft has intimated to them that the HD-DVD add-on for the Xbox 360 will be priced such that console and peripheral combined are cheaper than Sony's PS3.

At E3 last week, Microsoft once again discussed its plans to launch a HD-DVD component for the Xbox 360 later this year, but did not reveal any further information regarding the pricing of the unit.

Currently, the Xbox 360 retails at GBP 279 in the UK, with the Core System version selling for GBP 209, while the 60GB model of the PlayStation 3 is expected to cost between GBP 399 and GBP 419 when it arrives in late November.

Microsoft's alleged comments to UK retailers seem to suggest that the HD-DVD peripheral, which allows playback of high definition movies using Toshiba's next-generation DVD standard, will be priced below GBP 130, making an Xbox 360 and HD-DVD player bundle into a potentially attractive option at Christmas.

Sony's PlayStation 3 features a built-in Blu-Ray drive, which also offers playback of high definition movies, but in this case using Sony's competing next-generation DVD standard - which many industry commentators are tipping as the likely winner of this standards war, due to strong support from many movie studios and other content creators.

Some analysts, including respected videogames industry analyst Michael Pachter of Wedbush Morgan Securities, have suggested that the success or failure of Blu-Ray could directly lead to the success or failure of the PlayStation 3 - with the system being seen as good value despite its high price point if Blu-Ray is widely adopted, but Sony faced with being lumbered with an expensive and unappealing component for the console's five year lifespan if Blu-Ray is a failure.
130.00 GBP United Kingdom Pounds = 245.597 USD United States Dollars

I think that's a good move. Coming up with a HD-DVD bundle that costs less than what the PS3 is offering should help some during the Christmas rush.

I was just thinking about this. Something like M:TG would be cool on the 360.

<hr>

Oh... And $249?

Let's see... HD-DVD drive or Wii, HD-DVD drive or Wii...

$249 for the HD-DVD drive is awful, I was hoping for $199 at least. I agree with The Bus I would rather get a Wii.
