I really wonder if Fontana is the beneficiary of kickbacks from some mob operation. Farina really did slide right in very seamlessly, which is a huge task considering that Briscoe has been such a staple. I think he brings some of the tension back to the precinct that has been missing since the early days.
As for the first episode, I'm used to seeing familiar locations, but I nearly crapped my pants when I realized that they did some filming on Governors Island. It was during the scene where the officers were doing drills in a field. My old elementary school was prominently featured in the background. P.S. 26 represent!!! The Coast Guard left the island in the late 90s and I haven't been there since then, so the episode was the closest thing to going back home for me.

She leaves at midseason, so I guess around 10 eps in. Still no word on the replacement.

They seemed to model the character after that one character in the L&O Movie 'Exile' where they brought Logan (Chris Noth) back - the Paul Guifoille (sp) (the guy who plays Brass on CSI) - he was slick, well-dressed, and looked to Mobbed-up.
I'm guessing that he is legit though - like he married money but wanted to continue working.
As for location shooting, I really think this helps L&O over CSI: NY. It is filmed entirely in NYC so it looks 100% accurate.
Oh yeah - I alluded to the tension in the DA's office, but I forgot about the headbutting btwn the LT and Fontana in the first episode. Can't be L&O without some good tension.

I dunno. An NYC cop who's rich as Croesus, driving that car and wearing $300 shirts? Not sure if this works for me in L&O. Are we supposed to be wondering all season where the money came from, or are they gonna explain it away early on? Otherwise, I really liked Farina, Fontana, and the way he fit in, especially the way he took the lead a few times without stepping on Ed's toes.
It all sounds like a gimmicky detective show. Remember that old Gene Barry show, Burke's Law: a multimillionaire police commisioner with a chauffer driven Bently who runs around solving crimes that his detectives can't solve. Or Banacek. Or Cool Million. Or [Insert Das list here].....

Thankfully they're setting the stage for Serena to get booted off the show. It doesn't look like we'll get a slow, painful death like people hoped but it would be nice if she were fired (I don't think any of the lawyers have exited in that fashion).
Nice chemistry between Green and Fontana but I don't want to wonder all season where his money comes from. I wonder how many episodes before Van Buren just chews him out which would be fun to watch.

I liked the 2nd episode more than the first. The thing that bugged me about the first is that the wife had no sad feelings about leaving her husband (or at least she didn't show it)

That line in the 1st episode where the guy wants to run something by the lawyers and Farina is like "It's ok, we'll wait" and then sits down and starts reading a magazine was freaking hilarious.

I thought both of these episodes were better then most of last seasons. I loved Lenny but this show needed something new and I like what Farina did in the first 2 episodes.
I have to agree with Red Dog that the highlight of both episodes was Arthur and Jack telling Serena to go to her office if she didn't like what they were doing

I thought it had been in Iraq, but, from what I recall it was just that he hadn't fought. That could explain it I might be wrong though about the whole thing, it's just a guess.

According to Google...she wanted out before the seasons start, but they asked her to stay until the midseason since they already had one big replacement coming on.
