Agree, this could have been stretched out across the entire season if it was written better.

I didn't really see any need to bring in the L&O team for this storyline. They brought nothing to it, although its always fun to see Maura Tierney and Mariska chew though scenes.

Re: Law & Order -- Series Discussion Thread

I will say about last weeks episodes that I didn't expect it to go from what started like a basic human trafficking story to white supremacists and master race eugenics stuff.

And apparently this weeks planned episode of SUV got shelved cause it guest starred the just arrested of vicious felonies Timothy Busfield as a judge. I expect that they will reshoot his scenes with an actor that isn't "especially heinous" and air it later in the season. DUN-DUN

Also next season will probably have a ripped from the headlines episode based on this.

Re: Law & Order -- Series Discussion Thread

Last night might have been the best episode of the revival.

The police half was solved through tracing clues, minimum of facial recognition and ubiquitous cameras in NYC, and without the stupid chase that always happens when they're ready to bust someone.

Then the court case is even more compelling, a murder that was not self defense yet ultimately saved a life. Then the cherry on top, the prosecution gets a bit of evidence that will all but acquit the defendant and they have to decide whether or not to sit on it.

And best of all, it wasn't "ripped from the headlines".

I think all of their episodes are pretty strong plot wise. I don't care for the two cop leads at all now. The Dr. Who cop brings nothing to his role other than being 'black cop'. The parter 'white cop' who used to be on VEEP at least has a hot head side to his character that goes off every now and then. Everyone else on the show is solid and I love Tony Goldwyn, Maura Tierney and the two attorneys. If only they had a cop team with better chemistry. Mechad Brooks was great. They should have done more to keep him.

Nice guest stars this week. The defendant was a lead in the show Found and her lawyer was the mom from Ted.

I gotta wonder if that was a nod to Pulp Fiction tonight, since you had a member of the cast in the show, and he danced with his daughter to Al Green's "Let's Stay Together", a song prominently in the PF soundtrack.

Re: Law & Order -- Series Discussion Thread

This show is great but needs to attract a younger audience.

Sadly I think that means ditching most of the current cast. The two cops should be swapped out with younger versions. Dr Who guy and VEEP guy just dont bring enough energy to the show. They also have no chemistry. Maura Tierny and Tony Goldwyn are perfect. Keep them. The DA team also needs a refresh. The Arabic woman is great but has nothing to do most of the time and Hugh Dancy is just boring. Every other episode his character seems to have a crisis about doing what is right versus strict adherence to the law. All of these people are decent enough actors but their characters have run their course. Time to switch it up.

The rest of the show is firing on all cylinders. Great storylines and slick production you'd expect from a Dick Wolf show. With all the young acting talent in NYC it shouldn't be hard to find some fresh faces.

The could cast Taylor Swift and Bad Bunny as the cop duo and young people still wouldn't care for Law & Order.

hahahaha...oh my gosh. You're right! I have been confusing him with the black Dr. Who. He was 'Book' on STD. Any way, another boring character. Some actors just dont have anything that grabs your attention. Him and the guy from VEEP just don't do it for me. Mechad Brooks from True Blood was great. They shouldn't have let him go. And the other white cop who came in with the reboot, Jeffrey Donovan? He was good too.

Just my opinion but I think they need some fresh blood.
