I've seen these Coffee Joulies guys before. Interesting that they are on the show. I am surprised they took the deal they did, too. But I guess if they are in all the big box stores and making millions of dollars, giving up $1 per unit is probably the right play.

I really enjoyed tonight's show. From a product standpoint, this may have been the strongest episode to date as most of the stuff tonight was unique, interesting, and (aside from the teddy bear washer) stuff I could see myself buying. Season's been a little hit-and-miss, but a great one tonight.
Shark Tank had their own Jeopardy category today too.

Man, there were some DELUSIONAL people on tonight. A $40 bib, a depressing Teddy Ruxpin update, and rubber soles with string attached all asking for ridiculous amounts of money. At least iPad speaker guy was somewhat realistic, although he was asking a lot too considering he hadn't even bothered with packaging yet.
I thought the running sandals could have been a great investment what with the barefoot running fad but their demands were just insane. Asking for a ton of money with no sales is the most annoying trait pitchers have on this show. Offering less than 10% equity when you have no sales is almost as bad.
And what is with every other person claiming that "Walgreens is very interested" when it's usually a product I would NEVER go to a drug store to buy?

They have a bin full of those things for the iphone next to the check out at Staples. I predict someone has already copied his design and are banging them out for pennies in china, and he'll get nothing.

I knew I'd seen the iPad thing before. He was on Kickstarter. It's actually a good idea. People don't use earbuds because they are a fucking pain in the ass. I can't use earbuds for long periods of time without my ears hurting.

the problem with those sound bending things for the iPad is that I don't know anyone who uses an iPad without some sort of case, which then makes these units worthless.

People spend hundreds of dollars a year on bibs? News to this dad.
We've gotten along just fine for years using three of these $8 silicone bibs.

I love how the people go in and AREN'T sales people and can't sell themselves. The ones that at least attract some interest have usually thought out their idea, sold some of their products, have a realistic idea of what it's worth and what they would do with the money. I would rather have 50% of a multimillion dollar company, than 100% of something I'm trying to make work. The rabbi had a decent idea, and knew to take the deal. Crying mommy, with her "I'm not going to change the fabric" or anything will continue to lose money. I even thought the design was a decent idea, and could be made out of anything.

That was one of the most ridiculous things ever uttered on Shark Tank. $400 a year on bibs? Her breaking down in hysterics because of the family's financial troubles caused by bibs? Ludicrous.
I think we've used maybe $10-$20 worth of bibs total for all three of our kids.

It's axiomatic in business circles, start-ups always wildly inflate the size of the potential market for their products, at a minimum to outsiders anyway. The producers know going in that many of the people they pick have no shot at a deal, but pick them anyway for potential dramatic moments (crying, looking foolish, etc.) for ratings.

Cooler guys may have replaced plate topper guy as the worst pitch on this season. I was just cringing and wishing the sharks would just hurry up and put them out of their miseries.
And the Hoodie Pillow was F'N STUPID. The Hoodie airline rest was actually a good idea because A) it's more practical and B) people will see it in action and may want their own as a result. But I'm not walking around with a pillow wrapped around my neck.

The "buy us out and pay us a royalty" aspect was ridiculous and a non-starter, but I can't help thinking that if this were a Lori episode, she would have been able to move a ton of units via Home Shopping Network. This just screams "You can buy four Personal Coolers for the low price of $13.99 plus shipping and handling. But wait! Order now and we'll throw in four more AT NO ADDITIONAL COST!!!!"

The pillow-hat was most ridiculous, and the adjunct neck brace thing she threw in as an aside has been done by others. I can't believe that chick got a deal for that double dose of crap.

I can remember seeing ads for a cat toilet trainer like thirty years ago; it was a little litter box thing you would put over the toilet bowel to get your cat to piss and shit in the toilet, and then eventually take it away so they would just start going in the john.
Presumably it doesn't teach them how to flush. So if a guest walks into your bathroom, they might see the toilet lid up with a turd floating in the toilet and think you're a nasty motherfucker.

I think it's junk, too, but consider it from Robert's perspective. First, she's proven she's VERY aggressive at getting her items sold. Second, she's already got proven sales from Facebook. Third, Robert just had the product on TV for 15 minutes for free. Wasn't it just a $90k investment? He'll likely make his money back in a couple months time and enjoy the free ownership thereafter. It's a no-brainer.

^Yeah, there are enough suckers out there for him to recoup his small investment.
