The glasses magnet was stupid. Coincidentally, Dragon's Den had an uncannily similar magnet gadget for boutonnières a few weeks ago. If I recall, it was rejected, but my memory isn't great as movieking has shown.

I loved Cuban's response as soon as the guy with the ion watch came in. Totally reamed that sucker out!

Mr. Wonderful had a great line to the guy with the boxes: "I give you a check for $250,000 and you don't get my phone number."

My mother told me that Lori was on the view (I think she said the view) the other day showing her new products. She showed the glasses magnet, said that it was going to be on an upcoming episode of shark tank, then added that the guy she made the deal with has already net over a million for his remaining 35% share. Good deal for him.

I'm not surprised. It's one of those products which seems tacky but anyone with glasses would probably try if the price was low enough. I'm wondering how they're faring with the skyrocketing prices of rare earth magnets.

What was the similar bracelet thing that recently had to basically admit it was a scam? Soon as I saw that guy, I knew that someone was going to shred him. But whether it works or not doesn't really matter, as long as people want to buy them.

Cuban is an okay addition to the show, but a lot of the times he seems to give the investors exactly what they want, without haggling. Haggling is the best part of the show. Lori seems to be the opposite - she gleefully tries to screw the investors. Like the guy at the end last night with the glasses magnet. Ultimately he is better off with the deal since his 35% of sales now will triumph the 100% of whatever he was going to make without her, but to give up that much of the company has to be a shot in the gut.
Cuban crushed the dude who had the wine cork product... took him down from 600k to 400k even when Lori was ready to bring him back to 500k with cuban...

hes ruthless and a good addition.

I wonder if these sharks get a heads up on any of these presentations beforehand or make an offer on the fly?

Blog from Mark Cuban about the show. He says they know nothing "other than the name of the entrepreneur when they walk into the Shark Tank."

Except for the fact that they must see people set up the product/demo in the room prior to the entrepreneur walking in.

I definitely saw that wine balloon on another show; I'm pretty sure it was the show Billy Mays was on prior to him passing. IIRC, he got a deal with Billy/Antony as well.

Re: "Shark Tank" (ABC) - Series Thread

I don't think I've ever commented in a Shark Tank thread, but I do enjoy watching it Fridays.

A few thoughts on reading the last couple of pages of this thread. I miss Barbara. The new woman isn't too bad, but I always get the impression that she's trying too hard. I don't know. But I do like Barbara, if for no reason than she's sort of unpredictable. She seems to go with her gut a lot more than the others do.

I agree with others about the wine balloon. That was one of the better products that I've seen on this show and one I could even see myself using.

As for the boob pillow, I actually thought that maybe this product could get some sales. Is it a very niche market? Yes, of course it is. But my thought was to increase the price of it and go to every high-end cosmetic surgeon around. Make it a prescription thing or even bundle it with surgery. It's something that could even be prescribed for women with big breasts who are having problems. The profits still might not be enough for the Sharks, but I could see it selling, especially if they could figure out a way to make insurance companies pay for it. And if insurance pays for it, you know the price tag would go way up. It's not a great product, but I think it's one that could be marketed.

Very interesting. The heavy editing of the negotiations could explain why we get some Shark offers that seem to be exactly what the contestants are looking for, as another poster pointed out about Cuban. Maybe that comes after a lot of negotiation. I don't know, just interesting to think about.

I may be remembering incorrectly... but I think I got 3 of those Esso watches in a Woot Bag of Crap last year... and promptly put them in my Goodwill donation box. Pieces of shit.

Good news for Shark Tank fans: ABC just ordered an additional two episodes this season upping the order from 13 to 15. I gotta think this all but guarantees we're getting a 4th season.

Best But uses that same exact design to keep name tags on.

Groupon has a deal for similar ion watches on their site.

She wouldn't have gotten the deal until she said she turned down 2,000,000$ order from Sam's Club. Without that, she would have walked away with nothing,.

Yeah, he even justified it (35% of 10,000,000 is alot). Almost sounded like Lori wanted him to just be a silent partner.

The TEC guy was a dick and it was pretty clear the only reason he went to the show was to get his business on tv instead of trying to get a deal.

Yea, fuck that guy. He was a total slimy piece of shit. "Oh, hang on guyz, gotta call Woz..." Go fuck yourself.

Kevin and Barbara's kiss was hilarious. I think those guys have a cool product. My gf wanted some.

Obviously. I thought it was an absurd product (although I guess there is a market with gadget geeks), but it was great TV....especially seeing Cuban getting all whiny about patents and lawyers.

The dirt mover was hilarious.

Re: "Shark Tank" (ABC) - Series Thread

I agree with Cuban completely about the patent issues, though. For a guy who has $12 million in clothing sales, why the fuck would you even bother dealing away the patent? Cuban is totally right. Wireless is the future. Maybe not this year, or next, but with the new bluetooth spec hitting soon that uses even less power, it's going to start penetrating the market in the next 3-5 years and will dominate into the future.

I think they liked the security of having a salary. Plus they'll probably be millionaires before all is said and done so I don't think they cared.

I almost felt bad for Mr. Wonderful in last nights episode. It seems like he constantly gets cut out of deals and no one wants to work with him.

Well he could have had the decanter deal if he wanted it. That was right up his alley.
