Unlike the balance bracelets, there have been actual peer-reviewed studies that suggest accupressure bracelets can reduce nausea. I don't know if the research as yet at the point where it should be considered proven, but there is at least some science to support accupressure bracelets.

But that doesn't mean an unproven company that makes them in designer colors should be valued at $2.5 million.

You could see him revving up throughout her pitch, they cut to Cuban anytime she made a claim and you could see the steam forming.

That's different than saying it works.

I can see why the sharks walked from the tattoo remover. First, I'm not a believer of the product. Isn't tattoo removal a big problem? And then someone just comes up with a simple device to make it work?

Also, cosmetic laser manufacturers go bankrupt constantly. Same thing happens with any fringe medical related companies (cosmetic, chiro, etc.). Look it up. I hope that someone still makes money while they're open. But they always close, and their expensive machines end up unsupported.

Re: "Shark Tank" (ABC) - Series Thread

Wow, bean bag guy pretty much lost his dignity on that exchange. I've never liked Lori pulling her majority ownership offers, but she didn't blink and he did. And that's why she does it, because she can get away with it.

I thought the CordaRoy or whatever it was called was a great idea, but the retail price was insane. For $50 each I can buy an air mattress and a bean bag chair. But for two and a half times that, I can have both???

And it's really telling that looking up CordaRoy on Amazon, the product is "currently unavailable." Nobody is ever going to have more interest than tonight, and you can't buy one.

That bean bag guy knew going in his business was stuck up a creek. He took a desperate offer that may only work for Lori because of QVC.

I would definitely get one of those bean bag things. I have a small den I could use it in.

"As a result of being on ABC's Shark Tank Friday night, the greatest number of people from any Shark Tank broadcast EVER went to www.cordaroys.com and our servers crashed."

Seems like he's someone who was going to benefit hugely just from going on the show .. terrible deal terms with Lori but it kinda felt like he was burnt and just wanted a payday/someone to help run the company.

"I just want to sit on a beanbag that was once worth a million, and is now four hundred thousand".

Guy was right to do it, though. It's very sellable. He didn't get around to wholesaling to retailers for ten years. You need the workforce to make it happen. Depending on his cashflow, it could be hard to make it happen. Ten years ago, he could have borrowed it. It's almost impossible to get bank loans right now.

That cell phone holder/insurance idea was really dumb.

I would've loved to have been in the room with Red Dog to see his impressions of the 1st company.

Yes. Took Mark Cuban about thirty seconds to point out the obvious loophole (breaking your phone and THEN buying their insurance.) And if they were so good at fixing smartphones, why isn't THAT their business?

I can't believe that car crack accessory. Have to wonder if they already had a deal with Laurie in place and just used this as commercial time.

The skin care teen was impressive as a pitchwoman.

at Mark just going over the top of Laurie for the gift wrapping.

Re: "Shark Tank" (ABC) - Series Thread

The skin care girl was great. That was one of the better pitches I've seen. I think her only mistake was not making a bigger deal about how her product cost five times less than her biggest competitor. I think another shark might have competed with Mark and driven his offer down. Though I do think $300K was a pretty fair valuation.

I call complete BS on shrink wrap guy having a patent on his product. I used that exact same process to wrap VHS tapes when I worked in retail twenty years ago, and I doubt it was from his ingenuity. I guarantee that deal dies in due diligence.

I was wondering that myself, especially for a business that had supposedly already failed a few years ago. Considering it got two different offers, it must be seen as some kitschy novelty that could be quickly sold on an infomercial.

I kind of got the feeling that Mark just wanted to get one over on Lori. That product is fine and useful and I'm sure the sharks could do something with it and its good that they completely bought that guy out because he's a terrible salesman.

The face cream girl was great. She nailed every question and knew her business top and bottom. Very impressive for a teenager with no college experience. She's gonna do great. I'm gonna try the product, I've been looking for a good face scrub that doesn't break the bank.

A lot of people are inherently lazy or too busy to do many things for themselves. Some will pay more for the convenience offered by products such as this. Mark and Lori probably both thought the product was fine but the guy didn't know how to sell it. Get rid of the guy, make sure the patent is true and it could be a product that will sell.

There was no way that girl wasn't leaving with a deal. Cuban loves to invest in people so when Lori, I believe foolishly, passed you knew he was going to make an offer.

He's already added "As seen on ABC's Shark Tank" to his website - http://www.coolwraps.com/

If I was the shrinkwrap guy, I would have asked to keep 5%. Just in case the business makes $50mil or something.

I think Mark offered him a 3% royalty. Might as well cash in since he hasn't done much with it in 10 years.
