Re: "Shark Tank" (ABC) - Series Thread
Energy without the caffeine, if it works, could be a huge selling point. I think the one telling thing though was that they all tried it, and no one said how it tasted, and since two people made deals, I have a feeling it wasn't well-liked and that part was edited out.
I really liked the episode. No dog products, no kids shilling stuff, no women crying. And I thought the booze cruise was a pretty good idea. Their stage 3 and 4 concepts were just insane though.

Those 'Netflix for Ties' guys seem to have stolen that concept from 'The League'. On that show they called it 'Neckflix'. It's a good idea but those guys just won't be successful. Once things get tough, they'll quit. Damon hit it on the head.

It's actually those Monster/Red Bulls that are killing people. The 5 Hour Energy shots haven't... yet.
I like the marketing idea of it being a military grade shot. I think that will appeal to people. I like that there isn't caffeine in it. Still, energy shots are a dime a dozen. I can understand why some of them went out. But I love that the guy got a deal because I think it can be successful. On top of that, I have endless respect for our military and if anyone that came into the tank 'deserves' a chance, it's him.

What was that accent of they tie guy with the tie on. His pronunciations of words was making my Brain hurt.
Actually it was both of them, they sounded weird

As for the RuckPack, it's a stupid name, but I can see the packaging and the story selling it.

I love Red Bull, but I would give that energy drink a shot. I think the story/marketing of it is genius.
I would immediately market it to Call of Duty online gamer crowds. They already play military games, now an energy shot designed by special ops personnel? Come on it's a no brainer.

The idea of a military energy drink is not bad, but you would need millions in advertising to build up brand awareness and secure shelf space. I also thought the name was horrible, since virtually no one outside of military circles knows what a ruck pack does. A videogame tie-in is not a bad idea since it directly hits the intended demographic.

I'd love a Call or Duty tie in... "Are you tired after 14 straight hours of playing Call of Duty? Take some ruck pack and get in another 9 hours!"

Interesting episode tonight. I think this was the first time Shark Tank turned into Loan Shark, what with Barbara's "pay me back in two years...or else" deal.
Also odd they would end with the awful no-nothings pitching the leg purse that had no sales and an insane valuation and not with the feel-good Christmas tree deal that just felt like Cuban throwing the guy a $150K bone.

With the way they were talking about the good he does and how he employs vets, I was expecting Mark to just give the Christmas Tree guy the cash without taking any stake in the company.

So is Tuesday the new day now? Or was this a one-off Christmas themed show?

I think it was a special. But I think it does well in the ratings, so it wouldn't surprise me to see it moved to a more popular night in the future.

The show should have been canned in Season 1 with the ratings it pulled, but since it was on Friday and made money in other ways, it got to stay.
Now it's actually well rated, especially for a Friday. So yeah, it technically could make it on other nights.

I think this show would be a much bigger hit on a better night than Friday. Anything that survives the pathetic potential audience of a network show on Friday night should do much better anywhere else. It's also on the wrong network for its target demo. CBS would have gangbuster ratings with this show on the proper night.

I prefer it on Fridays since Friday has little else worth watching and expectations for ratings are low. I'd hate to see it moved to a more popular night with the potential of DVR/tuner conflicts. I couldn't care less what network it's on.

I only started watching this show last season so I decided to start watching from the beginning. Wow, what a difference Cuban makes. I think the show is OK in the beginning, but they seem to go VERY heavy on the "shark" angle. It seems like they tried to own the company in every deal where that doesn't seem to happen as often now. Also, that infomercial guy is horrendously dull.

Ratings were lower on Tuesday than a typical Friday, I think it's staying put.

I wouldn't have known it was on yesterday if my DVR hadn't picked it up. I'd guess that a lot of people didn't realize it was on.

The only reason I knew it was going to be on at this special time was that I saw something in my Entertainment Weekly last week about it. I don't think it was well promoted.

Re: "Shark Tank" (ABC) - Series Thread
I really enjoyed tonight's show. From a product standpoint, this may have been the strongest episode to date as most of the stuff tonight was unique, interesting, and (aside from the teddy bear washer) stuff I could see myself buying. Season's been a little hit-and-miss, but a great one tonight.
Shark Tank had their own Jeopardy category today too.
