That was hilarious. Great product. I'd buy a set in a second, but that guy was a total douche. I'm out. And the T-Mobile spot (I'm guessing that's not his real phone). Maybe he should have cried like the first chick.

That guy who went to school at Princeton sure was dumb to be such a genius. Comes in asking for 90K, gets offered a million and then wants to run that up??? He must not have watched the show before.

Re: "Shark Tank" (ABC) - Series Thread
They've been doing those T-Mobile spots all season. They aren't even trying to be sly about it.

The fly cone product was just stupid. The Seth McFarlane cameo wasn't worth having to watch that guy trot that product out.
Lori is way too nice. That first lady did not deserve an offer. She had a good product and she seemed like a good person but she's an awful business person.

That last guy was painful to watch. That WAS a great product and he was doing everything in his power to screw the deal up.
I didn't like that the crying lady got a deal, but I do like that Kevin called Lori out on it for doing it, so the potential for it happening again isn't so high.
I don't know if he was joking or not, but Kevin having no idea who Seth McFarlane was was pretty funny.

Man, that MacFarlane cameo felt so awkward. Even worse that the guy had a stupid product.
I was praying for the last guy to not get a deal. He's got to be the worst negotiator ever. Lori was smart because she knew it's a great product, even if the guy needs to be canned.
That crying woman gets everything she wants in life with that smile and those tears. It was written all over her face as she exited. They should have shut her down to prove a point about how real life works.

On the bright side, at least the plate topper guy got just about the worst deal possible after all that.
And I'm pretty sure crying lady will get her lesson in the real world once they get to due diligence. No way does that deal actually go through.

Still, she didn't deserve such a sweet deal and clearly only got it because she started crying. I agree that they shouldn't have done it to prove that this isn't how the real world works. Her husband seemed to be the bread winner in the family and she didn't make it seem that this was her families only option at success, if that was the case I'd be more sympathetic. This just seemed like her pet project that she failed at and wants a reason to keep dumping money into. I hope she's successful (I hope everyone that goes on this show is successful, I appreciate the entreprenuer spirit.) Alas, I'm fairly certain she will fail because failures will fail, even if they have the right contacts. This will only work if Lori takes big control of it and I can't imagine she has the kind of time to do that.
The best thing Lori could have done for her was to buy out the entire product for $95k (the amount she had lost in the project) and signed her on as an employee with a salary. Again, I don't know if Lori or any of the sharks have that kind of time.

Lori backed out of the last deal. From her twitter: "Sorry to say I wound up not liking his tactics much either, that agony didn't end in the tank. I'm out! #sharktank @ABCSharkTank"

I can't believe how bad that Princeton guy was at negotiating. If he had simply came in there asking for 1.5 million for ten percent of the company he could have at least negotiated something within that ballpark. I understand trying to not show all your cards at once, but he was beyond irritating. To be so bad at reading a room either has to do with the editing or the guy has Aspergers or something.

Is he stupid though? He sees the sharks fighting with themselves. They are competing with each other and fighting over who makes a deal. We've seen this strategy work a few other times with a really great product. The sharks get caught up in a bidding war and the person walks out all that much more rich. Get as much as you can while you can! But, he did fuck himself over by no disclosing what he thought the valuation should be. He was cocky in that sense, but trying to get the Damon and Lori competing with each other, was the right play. Even Robert said "he was negotiating" and realized what he was doing. Mark realized it too. He said the guy was trying to give up a small amount of equity for the relationships. Dude wasn't a great negotiator, for sure, but he knows what he is doing and knows his product is a hit.

While the guy was a not a slick presenter or salesman, the Princeton guy knew exactly what he wanted. His product was good enough where he really didn't need the Sharks for money or financing, he simply wanted their connections. That is why he was offering such little equity in the first place and why two sharks threw huge offers at him. He wanted their connections as cheaply as possible, the money could have been had cheaper from other sources and he knew it.
The woman only got that offer because she was a woman and started crying. Remember the sharks can always back out of deals after the taping, so it's not much risk for them.

Most of the stuff tonight was garbage, but I can't figure out why the grannies didn't push Mark/Barbara into lowering their deal. I mean even if they didn't want to take Damond's offer, push them down to 30% or 35%. Stupid negotiating there.

Re: "Shark Tank" (ABC) - Series Thread
Yeah, not sure why the grannies were giving away 40% of their company for 250k if it's on pace to make 1 million this year. And when Daymond went to 25%, little chance Barbara and Mark don't still do the deal at 30-35.

I get the feeling some people go in clearly only wanting to work with one specific shark, usually Barbara for the older women or Cuban for tech people.

PC Class guy and Real Estate guy just got DESTROYED tonight. They may have gotten beaten up worse than the Ion watch guy did last season. And at least his was clearly BS. These guys tonight just had bad ideas.

PC Classes
I can't believe the costume guy took Kevins offer. Mark was wide open to learning and working the company while Kevin was locked into one specific aspect. That product wasn't a company, you have to be open to rolling with the punches.
The grannys clearly came in knowing they wanted to work with Barbara or Mark. Very obvious.

I think that guy saw that he could basically hand the product over to a toy company, collect royalties on it, and possibly never work another day in his life. Mark's road seemed much more difficult, and he didn't seem married to his idea.

Overall...this was the lamest Shark Tank ever. Terrible name for the energy drink. Nobody will know that. But hey - you got Mr. Wonderful and Robert breaking no sweat.

yeah, the energy drink is probably a very male dominated market but the military aspect will lose even more potential female consumers.

My whole view on energy shots - if you're not next to the CC touch pad, no sales. It's all about placement. And it seems like 5-hour energy has that cornered.

Seems like there have been a few energy drinks/foods/whatevers this season. You'd think the market would be saturated by this point, but who knows.
