Re: "Shark Tank" (ABC) - Series Thread

I feel bad for that poor girl at the end. They pretty much made her reveal her personal problems on national TV only to have her walk away without a deal. Hope things work out for her. If hot white women can't make it in America, who can?

Re: "Shark Tank" (ABC) - Series Thread

Kevin with the line of the night on the last girl: "I don't want to tear you to pieces on this...but I may have to."

And unfortunately, he ended up doing just that once she revealed her personal demons. I felt bad for her, but at this point, people need to realize if you have no sales, your chances of getting a deal are pretty slim.

Loved the bidding war over the sponge guy (pretty sure Damon just wanted to screw with Lori) though I'm so done with products for your pets, though Robert dropping the dog almost made it worth it.

Re: "Shark Tank" (ABC) - Series Thread

I'd buy that sponge if I saw it in the grocery store. Dude got exactly the value he wanted....that's rare.

The electric unicycle looked really cool. I thought the Segway was beyond stupid (and the people riding them doofuses) when I first saw it. But this is much better - compact.

What drama in the last pitch. I thought she would get a pity offer from one of the guys.

I called it to my gf that the last girl was a former addict as soon as they showed her. 6 weeks and you're already here? My gf did say she thought it was a good product.

That sponge looked great. We tried to find one to buy online, but all it did was lead you to Lori's own page, where you can pledge to purchase one, or some such nonsense. I want my scrubber thing!

I think that last girl might have received a pity offer if she hadn't fallen apart in the pitch. Once Damon passed on it, that signaled to the other sharks it was a worthless clothing product. If Barbara had been around, I bet she makes a token offer. She has a habit of championing the more pathetic business plans aimed at the female market that are also run by women.

you can buy it now. it's on her page for $15.99 with free shipping. http://www.lorigreiner.com/clearance/scrub-daddy-4-pack

oddly enough, my wife said she saw the scrubber guy on QVC a few months ago and almost bought a few. she never did, but may now.

i sort of felt bad for that girl at the end for them badgering her about her personal life, but they were right to do it.

Re: "Shark Tank" (ABC) - Series Thread

That was all crap. The sponge was something you see on TV at 3 a.m. It looks fabulously useful, you order it, and it sucks. Commence to throw into cupboard full of as-seen-on-TV rubbish, never to be used again.
The unicycle. Who the hell wants that? Real unicycle riders (all three of them) don't want gyroscopes, electric power, and so forth, and casual riders don't want to ride something so unstable. They'll understandably stick with an electric bicycle.
The dog food? Who knows? There might be enough moronic dog owners who would spend $6 for a tub of designer slop for their mutts.
The slip? I can't comment on the feasibility of an article of women's clothing, because I couldn't give a shit.

$15.99? Pass. Didn't he say it cost a dollar to make them? Nice margin.

The doggie froyo would sell best if they sold it in a standalone freezer at Petsmart and Petco like movie theaters do with Nestle's Dibs.

I would buy that for my dog. Probably will, if it ends up at the local Pet Club or maybe Target.

Re: "Shark Tank" (ABC) - Series Thread

Boring episode.

Dog products bore me, and the freezer space point was great and obvious. If the ice cream actually tasted good to people and they could share it with their dogs (as opposed to just being technically edible such that no one will), I could see there being a market for this. But just buying ice cream for your dog? I can't see even many dog lovers going for that.

The unicycle thing was cool, but a limited product in terms of appeal. Not sure what was the licensing tech behind the deal that made it attractive. Was it just the balancing mechanism? The motor and charging system? All of it? Kind of unclear.

And I felt awful for the women at the end. I'm not sure if women want a shirt like that, but she had a good pitch. I think it was cruel to air that segment when she didn't even get a deal. Make her cry and open up for no reason. She got used hard for ratings.

Can you imagine going 15mph on that little unicycle? That sounds suicidal.
How the hell do you steer that thing at that speed?

How is airing her segment cruel? How is it for no reason? Seven million people now know her product exists. Sure she didn't get a deal, but if I wanted to buy a Shemie (or if I just felt sorry for her and wanted to give her business), all I have to do is go google Shemie, and voila, I can order one. I guarantee she has hundreds (if not thousands) of orders already.

The point of Shark Tank isn't necessarily making a deal with a Shark, it's getting publicity for your product (hopefully without a Shark saying their product sucks.)

Do the Sharks EVER endorse a food product? I've yet to see it happen. The slip thing was dumb and too easy to copy since it's existed for 40+ years.

Sure. I definitely remember a few investments in food products. I know Barbara has for sure.

Re: "Shark Tank" (ABC) - Series Thread

There's already a frozen dessert product for dogs on the market called Frosty Paws, it is made by Nestle, which would make sense since they are already selling and distributing frozen items. Don't know whether they are in pet stores or not(I've seen it at grocery stores), but I'm surprised no one mentioned it during the show--it's been on the market for a few decades. Maybe you can make an argument that you have a better product or different distribution(the dedicated freezer sounds like a good idea), but to not even mention that there's already an established product on the market seems odd to me.

I've bought that and our dogs love it.

Our supermarket has it in the pet food area in little freezers that look like little wine coolers.

Our local Bruster's has been selling "ice cream for dogs" for years. Not sure if it's the Nestle product or something different.

Some of the sharks clearly have no experience or interest investing in the food space. I doubt you'll see Cuban, Damon, or Kevin ever invest in a food product.
