More a joke than anything, considering the reputation Glen Burnie seems to have whenever I tell people where I am from.
At least now when I'm in the market my next stained glass window I'll know where to go

The Wire; Episode 2
I cant beleive anyone hasnt started a thread about this GREAT show already. anyways, the focus of the season became alot clearer last night (and i think will be busted open next week.) Prez. getting his own detail is intriguing, and i dont think McNulty is gonna quit busting his former boss' balls anytime soon

I was thinking the same thing. Great episode! McNulty can't help but tweak those above him. I wonder what hellhole will he be sent to when this season is over.
Considering the way the different police departments keep passing the case around, it's a wonder that any of them are solved. Is this realistic?
Almost didn't recognize D'angelo with hair. Avon is still king of whatever molehill he happens to be around.

I get the cops and the dock workers angle, but what did the black guys stripping the car in the first episode have to do with the whole picture? As well as the black guys in prison in the second episode?

Mopower: Did you see the first season of The Wire? They were the drug dealers being investigated by the police. They don't have anything to do with the dock workers story, though I'd imagine they'll be tied it somehow.
Thought it was a great episode. D'Angelo doesn't look like he's doing so well.

Really fabulous episode.
Lester Freeman in the House!!!

I had worried.
Bunk is a lot like a guy from Simon's book Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets, who I think was the original inspiration for Meldrick Lewis.

I liked the comment "Mcnoulty is dead to us" the night after they were buying him drinks.......
I also noticed that the drunk guy who wanted to fall down the stairs from season 1 is back on the task force.
Was confused about that final murder. Did that happen in Baltimore or another city? What was the connection? Was the older guy there "the greek?"

McNulty's my hero.
Counselor: What do you want to do when you grow up?
Young das: I want to spend my free time exacting intricate revenge on people who once pissed me off.
Counselor: You're not serious?
Young das: Try me ...
Ah ... the memories. Anyway, what a great character. I'm also enjoying the way they've worked last season's key players (Herc, Pryzbylewski, Carver) into the story a bit. I wonder how involved Pryzbylewski's team is going to be with everything. Damn, there sure are a lot of characters. It's great to see Bobby Hobbes (Paul Ben Victor) get some solid screen time and kill someone. The Invisible Man is one of my favorite guilty pleasures, and I'm happy to see him land on such a quality show.
While I've accepted it as one of the truths of the Universe, I'm still amazed at how HBO continues to churn out such consistent quality.

It's really hard trying to figure out who's coolest on this show;
McNulty appeals to your rebel side and your professional side simultaneously.
Bunk is a great detective, but is also a fabulous dresser and a funny guy. (Plus, he refers to himself in the third person, always a plus. "Hell, no! The Bunk don't swim..."
)
Freeman is cool, calm and smart. Plus, aside from McNulty's babealicious ex-wife Callie Thorne (who I want to see more of. Either way you want to read that sentence is applicable...), he's got the finest woman around. (Actually, she's tied w/ Keema...)
Omar is the most confident MF on the East Coast and is undeniably cool
And finally, there's Stringer Bell, who should be running a Fortune 500 Company.
What a great cast, and that just scratches the surface.
Also, I agree about Hobbes/Ben Victor. I don't think I'll ever just think of him as the guy driving around looking for a McDonalds ever again...

This was a GREAT episode...hopefully the rest of the season can match this episode's quality. Couldn't stop laughing at McNulty and his antics with Rawls. Cracked up at the second instance of "You look like you could use some coffee" line...
There are a LOT of things happening already in just the second episode...gonna be a great season full of surprises (hopefully)

My guess is that the current 6 man team that the Chief put on the Dock workers will fail miserably and the young kid in charge will push for a Wire with members of the old team on the case.
McNulty was hilarous. I love seeing him stick it to Rawls.
The prison worker looks like he will be a dead man very soon for screwing with Barksdale.
The ending of this episode was disturbing. The Greeks don't mess around.

Well, since it's Tuesday and there's no thread........
Looks like this season is shaping up in the same way as last: starting a little slow, but building and building each episode.
A lot of the law from last season are underused: Herc, Greggs, Pearlman, etc. I hope that changes now that the investigation is rolling. But, I'm not so sure this show needs more characters onscreen!

From the promos, it looks like:
Valcek has SEEN THE LIGHT!! "You gave me humps!!" Damn, that was funny.
I also enjoyed Freeman's little Jules Winfield moment
This show is like Holmes' definition of the law: "It's wheels grind exceedingly slow, but exceedingly fine."

This was the worst episode so far. I fell asleep the first time, so I even watched it twice, but still disliked it. Who thinks that D'angelo was being tested in the prison?
It was like a hit, except avon even warned him about it.

Thats one hell of a way to make a point to somebody. Part of it also was to take down the prison gaurd who pissed Avon off.
The market saturation speech by Stringer was great.
