Nice little one page feature about season two in next week's TV Guide, accompanied by a pic of West, Sohn, the guy who plays Daniels and Idris Elba, who plays Stringer Bell. He's almost smiling...

It's one of the great things about the writing for this show that you get the definite idea, and find it completely believable, that under different circumstances Stringer could've been an ace businessman, and probably contributed a great deal to society.

To quote Omar...
"Hey, now..."
It's about that time.
McNulty: "You all set?"
Omar: "Well, I'm a little light on travelin' money. Now...I could go 'round the way and get myself paid, but..."

The Wire 6/01
Yet another slow start, though they did leave a bit of a cliff-hanger. I don't watch previews, but I suspect the new target is a
.
As if the drinking and poor parenting wasn't enough to make McNoulty an anti-hero, I guess they felt it necessary to add bribery too. Not sure yet if Presbalusky will be back, but considering the Polish background, I wouldn't doubt it.
Let's count the inside jokes referring to season 1:
#1 : Still can't type even though Greggs has a computer instead of a typewriter
#2 : McNoulty is working the river, his least desired job

But I think the second season is off to a great start.

Ah, Bunk.
"Ahoy, matey! Girls are always telling me about the man in the boat. Now I finally see who they're talkin' about..."
"That's port, fool."
Aren't there any Urban Contemporary stations in Philly?
Is Jay even fatter this year?
Nice blend of old and new. I'm as excited as a little girl...

I agree, this looks like another great season. It will be interesting to see how the dockworkers thread and the drug dealers thread tie together (if they do at all).
Also, did I miss an episode last season (I watched the replay that just finished a couple of weeks ago). I for the life of me don't remember the scene of McNulty being assigned to the waterfront division. Was this something new to show how he got where he was?
I loved how that one drug dealer kid was listening to Prarie Home Companion!!

Yep, I cracked up when that kid was listening to Garrison Keellor.
I thought it was a great episode. I've got a feeling the old Polish chief will want a wire put on the dock boys by the next episode. Then the crew will be reunited!
Looks to be another excellent season.

BTW- does anyone know who sings the new theme song ("Devil in a hole"?) for this season, and the version from the first season?
Thanks!

I'm fairly sure that this year's version is done by Tom Waits, but don't hold me to that.
It was one of the last shots from the 1st season finale: Bunk and Freeman going down to the harbor and tossing McNulty a bottle as his boat pulled out. (I'm glad to find that Jimmy is still a detective, albeit it one w/ a uniform. I thought they'd busted him in rank, along with the rotten assignment.)
In re Flay's idea:

Good start to the season. I'll be curious to know how the drug plot crosses over with the new dock plot.
Looks like everybody ended up in crappy jobs after the events from last season, huh?

A bit of a slow start and I'm already a bit irratated with Nephew Ziggy and his **** swinging.
I think the season will be intersting and its nice to see a lot of the old characrters back and some new ones in the mix as well. I don't see myself looking forward to the show the way I did SFU.
But hell I'm not sure Sopranos is as good as SFU at this point....
Loved how Jimmy got the tide charts out and stuck it to his old boss. Sucks that the lutenenet got busted down to the basement, I expect he'll be getting out soon though...

Too bad this show isn't very realistic...
A stained glass craftsman in Glen Burnie?!?
Other than that, great show. Slow start as usual, but I am sure things will pick up as the stories begin to come together.
