Thanks for the comments, but the NHT VT-2's have a side firing sub; so that will not work very well. I balenced the system using avia, so that took care ot the spacial difference.

That is because the NHT speakers are power hungry, and the SB card doesn't even have enough power to meet the bottom end of the requred spec for your speakers.

Adding a connector to insulated wire will not cause a hum....
