Fox has had screenings in several markets via Gofobo/Eventbrite/etc. That's how I saw it, maybe Oliver did too. They've also had a ton of guild screenings.

You are quite...

Re: Jessica Chastain

Jessica Chastain is fantastic and I feel pity for those who can't appreciate her work.

Re: Your Top 10 of 2014

Thank you, Why So Blu!

I really hate having to wait until January's nearly over to see some of the best films from the year before. At least movies like A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night make it...

Re: Your Top 10 of 2014

This is mine, I made a video.
You can always skip to the end if you'd like just the top ten.

Re: Movies with scenes of the characters at the movies

Well, that AFI promo certainly did a similar job to what I had in mind.

Thanks for all the suggestions, everyone!

Movies with scenes of the characters at the movies

I'm making a montage for work which will use quick bits of the characters from movies actually at the cinema, and I'd certainly appreciate any help in coming up with the best ones. Naturally, I know...

Re: the Best DAN AYKROYD film of the 1980s?

I voted The Blues Brothers. It's so very different from other comedies, filled with great individual moments, and its car chase third act is unparallelled.

We're having an event for Aykroyd at my...

Re: RIP Box Office Mojo

For over a decade in the cinema business, Box Office Mojo has been incredibly useful to me. Though there's been no official word and all this "absorbed" news is just speculation, historically it...

Re: The Wolf of Wall Street (Scorsese, 2013) — The Reviews Thread

The film is not misogynistic. The characters most definitely are.

Re: OldBoy (Lee, 2013) — The Reviews Thread

I sat in an empty theater for OLDBOY this morning. Weep, and you weep alone...

It's good for the first hour. You've seen it before, but it's fine - still a great setup. There's no bit of setup...

Re: "Roadhouse" remake in the works

Road House is about as close as we'll get to a modern-day western. It's full of great fights, showdowns and men who are the law in lawless lands. It's also fucking terrible. Its nostalgia has its...

People who didn't want to watch Clone High, but with Batman should be immediately disqualified from offering opinions.

re: Entourage: The Movie (2015, Ellin) S: Piven, Grenier, Connolly, Dillon, Ferrara)

Given how utterly horribly managed that ending was, a film spent atoning for that nonsense doesn't sound like a bad idea.

Re: Any films that you were dying to see for years and ended up being disappointed wi

That's... weird. It's an Irish guy's name. "Donnacha". Like "Monica" with a D. And I stuck a "One" at the end.

Re: Gravity (Cuarón, 2013) — The Reviews Thread

No. Way more earnest. Sandra Bullock looks like she's about to burst into a fit of tears at any moment.

Re: Gravity (Cuarón, 2013) — The Reviews Thread

Saw it last night. Sound and fury, signifying nothing. Too bad. Nice as a tense theme park ride throughout, but character and story are way underdone.
