I haven't liked IMDB since they updated in the early 2000's. It always froze up my browser for a few seconds.
Also, because Wikipedia is generally just as informative. IMDB goes further in depth. But it's mostly useless.

Yeah, I loved all the different categories that Box Office Mojo had; it was easy for me to compare similar movies and categories like how the Marvel movies compare to each other.

Yeah, their weekend recaps were really informative. I'd hate to see them go away permanently.
It's interesting that the current owners of BOM have made no statement about what is going on.
Maybe the people who started the site can create a new box office website if the recaps and other columns are discontinued on BOM. I don't know how realistic that would be, though, as it would take a lot of work to do that.

That message which stated the database was fried means it is probably just taking longer to get the site back up to snuff. It's only been 3 days...
Still, someone could have at least commented on it to allay fears.

Re: RIP Box Office Mojo
I think it's more than a hardware or software issue. Here's a story from the LA Times:
The website Box Office Mojo, a go-to resource for data on movies and money, is back online after mysteriously disappearing on Friday.
Box-office data fiends who tried to use Boxofficemojo.com on Friday were redirected to the website of the Internet Movie Database, IMDb.com.
This prompted a wave of speculation from those who use the site religiously to track the performance of films at the multiplex. Hollywood trades including The Wrap and Variety published reports on the sudden disappearance, and some wondered if the site had been permanently folded into IMDb.
Box Office Mojo was acquired in 2008 by IMDb, which is in turn owned by the Internet retail giant Amazon.
On Saturday night, Box Office Mojo was back to normal.
Ray Subers, who runs the site, wrote from his Twitter account: "I think it's about time to resume normal programming here..."
He added: "Actually, two things. 1) I am 100% OK. No health/family/personal issues whatsoever. 2) I will not be answering any Qs re: the past 3 days."
Neither IMDb nor Amazon responded to questions about Box Office Mojo.

Could've been some kind of contract dispute.
