Re: Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (2024, D: Kenan)

I don't think they tend to actually give you the popcorn in the collectible bucket - a lot of them couldn't hold a large popcorn.I have impulse bought one that I do not regret at all (the Spider-Gwen...

Re: The Crow (2024, D: Sanders) -- S: Bill Skarsgard

There have been enough shitty entries in The Crow franchise that one more isn't the end of the world (spoken by someone who paid money to watch City of Angels in the theater).

Do I hope it forges...

Re: The Fall Guy (2024, D: Leitch) S: Gosling, Blunt, Taylor-Johnson

If the prompt was "big budget cheese fest based on 80's TV show but updated for today" - that trailer nails it 1000%.

YMMV on whether that's for your or not - Leitch's solo films all work for me...

Re: Ever watch a newer movie back to back?

When I was younger I would commonly watch big new releases twice opening weekend, but only because I would go see them as soon as they were released Thursday/Friday - and then see it with family or...

Re: Do you ever completely forget that you have seen a movie?

It's not often that I completely forget having watched something, but yeah, it's happened. I casually dropped into Away We Go on TV a couple years ago, and I like John Krasinski and Maya Rudolph and...

Re: No Hard Feelings (2023, D: Stupnitsky) S: Jennifer Lawrence

I had two thoughts simultaneously while watching the trailer - Lawrence is way too good an actress to be in this and this is going to be so much better because someone with Lawrence's talent is in...

Re: Hidden Strike (2023, D: Waugh) S: Jackie Chan, John Cena

This looks like something I'll have a small amount of fun watching on the couch on a Saturday afternoon - some fun with, some fun at the expense of.

Re: Most disappointing movie?

Milla Jovovich coming off Resident Evil 1 and 2, Kurt Wimmer coming off of Equilibrium - I was hyped as could be for 2006's Ultraviolet.

God, that movie sucked. The CGI was terrible, the story was...

re: The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023) - Illumination - V: Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor Joy, Jack Black

That's pretty much it. It's pretty much a kids movie with bright colors and constant movement and an Easter egg movie for hardcore Mario fans.

If you're just familiar with Mario and want a...

Re: AMC Premiere / AMC+ -- AMC Network's Streaming Services

E-mail asking to cancel and they'll offer to drop that $83 to $60 for the year.

I still hate the app and the lack of 5.1, but $5 a month, I'll give it another year to improve, at the very least,...

Re: Black Adam (Collet-Serra, 2022) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

The Justice Society really saves this movie, most of what's fun about it comes from them. On the Black Adam side, there's just so much clunky exposition and Sarah Shahi's kid just doesn't deliver the...

Re: Anyone here have a short-throw projector?

Compared to a traditional projector set-up, yes it is much more watchable in a brightly lit room. It's not going to look as good an LCD panel in those conditions, but it certainly better than a...

Re: MoviePass... would it work for you? [UPDATE: THE DEAD SHALL RISE]

The new Moviepass is a new venture with no tie to the old one, except for the name and the idea (with one of the original co-founders, not one of the ones being sued). This SEC lawsuit wouldn't...

Re: MoviePass... would it work for you? [UPDATE: THE DEAD SHALL RISE]

I'm in Chicago, looks like the launch is still a few weeks out even for those in the test cities.

Re: MoviePass... would it work for you? [UPDATE: THE DEAD SHALL RISE]

It wouldn't be Moviepass if they promised something and didn't deliver.

They did say that invites to the Beta cities would go out over Labor Day weekend and that doesn't appear to have happened....

Re: Bardo, False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths (2022, D: Iñárritu)

Lulu Wang's brief (very positive) review on Twitter tips the scales much more for me than the reviews coming out of Venice.

It's going to be on Netflix, so I'll watch it either way.

Re: MoviePass... would it work for you? [UPDATE: THE DEAD SHALL RISE]

I have and love A-List, so I wouldn't let go of that under any circumstances, but I am cautiously optimistic about this now 3rd go-round of Moviepass.

I'll wait and see what the value prop is of...

Re: Which paid TV and Movie streaming service do you not subscribe to?

There's that other thread in Other about what makes you feel successful - the fact that between myself and a couple family members, I have access to all of these, that's what make me feel successful.

re: TITANIC in 3D (Cameron) - re-release

Think of it as Liemax that's worth the upcharge. Significantly better pciture quality and sound than a regular screening and I would still rate it better than Liemax.

re: TITANIC in 3D (Cameron) - re-release

Nice! They can just re-release all the Cameron movies if they want. But I did see the 3D re-release last time around and it was a really good conversion. I'll be checking it out again for sure.

Re: Marshall (10/13/2017, D: Hudlin) S: Boseman, Cromwell, Hudson, Gag

I saw it a few weeks back, it's fine, but it really felt like a TV movie, I don't know if it was the direction or the jazz soundtrack.

It's a good story if you're not familiar with the particular...

re: MoviePass... would it work for you? [UPDATE: THE DEAD SHALL RISE]

It was an annoying unannounced change, but you just had to take the picture before you saw a movie again, so I would just take the picture when I got back home. It honestly wasn't a hassle after that...

Re: Harry Knowles accused of sexual assault; AICN staffers leave

Harry and AICN has pretty much been living for the past 20 years on a reputation they built over the course of a couple years in the mid-90's. Those few years were sort of revolutionary and a...

re: MoviePass... would it work for you? [UPDATE: THE DEAD SHALL RISE]

I do this myself (I just like data points I guess). Even at the $35 a month I was paying, I've still saved $180 this year on paying out of pocket.
