The VINYL Thread!

Re: The VINYL Thread!
So I may need to get this. Mondo is releasing the soundtracks to the Back to the Future Trilogy on vinyl in a pretty cool box set. A bit pricey at $105 but I might spring for it.

I actually like the artwork on the individual releases better. I'm tempted to spring for those, but it's pretty pricey.

I agree the individual covers are better. I like the plutonium box for the set though. I have the soundtrack for the first film on vinyl already and don't really need these but do sort of want them as I've always loved the films. I agree that $105 is a lot for just three albums though. As much as I like Mondo I do feel like a lot of their stuff is overpriced.

Further question re: my buying a U-Turn turntable...
I am going to need a preamp. Is there any reason why I should pay these guys $70 for a built-in when I could buy a standalone off Amazon for $12?

I've heard nothing but good things about the U turn phono pre. If you can swing the $70 now I would go for it. Then again if you upgrade later $12 isn't a lot to lose.

I really only am familiar with his first 3 solo LPs, this year's Wolflight, and his Genesis Revisited albums. The rest of his catalog, or at least that which I've heard, I can take or leave. Mostly leave.
Oh wait, does GTR count?

Speaking of GTR counting (and no one was, save me), here's a pic of my latest haul. All media are in VG to NM- condition, 3 bucks each. (Apologies for the glare)

That Thunderball cover is really something to be seen. Vinyl Geek referenced it in one his semi-recent videos, gushing over the brilliant cover artwork. I concur. Beautiful.
Not pictured but also picked up are Steely Dan's Aja, The Beach Boys's Surf's Up, and a Sound of Music soundtrack.

Re: The VINYL Thread!
Coheed and Cambria released a new album a couple weeks ago and I ordered the 180g audiophile version off their website (Limited to 1500 copies apparently).
I got an email about a half an hour ago saying that due to manufacturing issues they got a lot less than they ordered from the plant and they couldn't send me one.
They offered to either refund my money or refund just my shipping and send me the Tour Edition vinyl they have instead ("Storm" clear blue vinyl, limited to 1000 copies (Only available at their shows). Not 180g though.)
I figured I'd take them up on the colored vinyl offer.

What time do Mondo items usually go up for presale?

I think if I do decide to go for the BTTF soundtracks, I'm going to buy the separate releases. I like the art and vinyl color better on those.
Also, at $35 a piece, it works out to the same price as the boxed set anyway.

I think I'll do the same with the Mondo releases for the Back to the Future Trilogy. I like the box set that the albums come in but overall I like the artwork better on the individual releases.

Not in a huge hurry to pre-order since they aren't out until February and Mondo doesn't limit their vinyl pressings like they do with their prints.

Still don't have a player, and on fence about getting one, but I ordered all 3 of the individual BTTF releases.
