Re: The VINYL Thread!
Going to go read some more of the thread "landlords on my case about cleanliness" and stop myself from ordering even more!!
Seriously though, I'm having some work done on a couple of amps and shouldn't have even ordered these.

I was able to stop myself from dropping that money. I'm the best man in a wedding in the Virgin Islands in a month, I just need to keep plenty of money for the trip festivities.
Kind of kicking myself for buying a few albums in the last two weeks they have in their list though.

Ordered the Popmarket 9-title Foo Fighters collection last week...arrived today! Just finished spinning Skin And Bones.
On another note, what do you guys recommend for a record brush? Looking on Amazon, and not sure which one to choose over the others.

I like this brush personally. Have a couple of them. Does a good job. I shoot off any dust it picks up with some canned air.

Urban outfitters is having a sale. They have vinyl as you guys know. $50 off $150
http://m.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/m...52523U00613790
Almost a deal good enough for DVDTalks early days!
I took the opportunity to buy a couple of pricey double LP 45 RPM Coltrane reissues and also the Time Out reissue. I'm sure some of you guys can load up on a lot more than 3. Prices are pretty much standard.

I did bite like a bitch and ended up ordering the Kiss Revenge LP reissue but I bought it from a 3rd market seller as opposed to the over inflated price that Amazon was selling it for. I paid $5 less shipped than what I would have paid if I had gone through Amazon directly. I paid $32 for it as opposed to $37.50. New, too.

I did end up buying this bad boy from Julien-K only cuz they posted it on their website that they had 4 copies left. I paid $16 for it shipped and it should get here tomorrow or the day after.
Here is a little blurb from Ryan about the new Vinyl E.P:
While we were in the EU on tour this summer, we started playing the remixed versions of some of our favorite songs LIVE. After about 15 shows, the song began to change and become something entirely different - almost a "Night Version" - or a completely new song based on the original. After many requests, we decided to record these new versions in Hamburg, at Clouds Hill Studios (thanks to our good friend Johann).
To give it a really live feel – to really capture what we were doing onstage – we decided to offer a very limited amount of tickets to our core group of fans. We thought this would give us a bit of the "nervousness" that comes with playing live, and would be a cool way to include and thank our SDS members.
We recorded the songs in a few takes, playing all the way through, with our SDS members in the room. Really fun. Recorded on vintage gear, straight to tape. Old school recording for a modern electro band. We really wanted to see if we could pull it off. Mistakes and all – we left everything in.
We decided to make this release a special VERY limited edition EP on vinyl, intended mainly for our core fans. The EP will of course come with a digital download code w purchase. We are mixing the record as I type, and we are looking forward to more experiments like this one – record and release within a matter of months, direct to our fans.
To make the EP extra special, we decided to record and include our fan favorite new song Dregs of the World, which has only been heard live thus far.
While in Berlin we befriended quite a few amazing up and coming artists. We asked one of our favorites Amrei to create an original piece for our album cover, and to design the packaging, etc. (BTW – you can see Amrei's work in this months French Vogue). http://www.verticospuppets.com/

Haven't seen any of them in person yet, myself, but I've been reading the jackets on these KISS vinyl re-issues are not that great. Reports of them being thin, flimsy and off colored. On the flip side, the reports of sound quality have been outstanding. Many saying it's the best they've ever heard the albums sound.

Those bastards at UO cancelled one of my albums I ordered...but I still got a proportionate discount, just a little bummed they cancelled the Yeah Yeah Yeahs album.

I had three ship and three still waiting. Justice - Cross is the one I wanted most and luckily that shipped. That fucker is expensive everywhere so I'm glad I was able to get it as part of this sale.

Re: The VINYL Thread!
Ok everything has now shipped from Hipster Inc . . . uh I mean Urban Outfitters. Shipping times seem long. A week by UPS but ok.
I've been on a Coltrane kick since setting up my rig. Starting to get serious with some of these reissues now. This sale definitely helped. The recent BLue Train mono reissue was like hearing it for the first time.
Anyway, I don't know if anyone is interested but a reissue label is putting out a previously unavailable live performance in Sept.

Re: The VINYL Thread!
Had a "record show" this past weekend. My haul (what I can remember):
Bob Dylan - Bringing it All Back Home (1st mono pressing, immaculate)
X - Under the Big Black Sun
Kate Bush - Hounds of Love
Allman Brothers - Eat a Peach
Van Morrison - His Band And The Street Choir
Rolling Stones - Sticky Fingers (working zipper)
Frank Zappa - in New York
John Lennon - Walls and Bridges (Apple)
And some record store buys:
Nick Drake - Five Leaves Left (new)
Big Star - #1 Record (new)
The Byrds - Fifth Dimension (UK 1st p)
Speed the Plough - s/t
And RSD is coming yet. It's my inner Alan Smithee coming out.

Re: The VINYL Thread!
My Kiss Revenge reissue just came in. It's got the same lyrics/band photo inner sleeve from the original pressing but this one says it's a 180 gram pressed "audiophile vinyl" edition. Will spin it later on today.

Re: The VINYL Thread!
At Amoeba I noticed the Dressed To Kill reissue and considered picking it up, until I saw it was $35. Kiss have gone completely insane.
