Great album. Have a question though. Near the end of You Know What You Are, the main theme sounds exactly like a past NIN song I just can't put my finger on, or am I just making an association that isn't there? Anyone that's listened have any ideas?

you mean the chorus part where he is yelling don't you know what you are, or the piano outro?
i guess the end to me kinda has some of the aspects of driver down from the lost highway soundtrack..but that's probably totally wrong.

EDIT: Found it. Was thinking of a similar sounding part of 'The Wretched'.

I'll have to listen to the songs again to get the specific name, but one of them has a keyboard part that sounds like a Fatboy Slim song. Right before he starts singing in a high pitched voice.
I enjoy the album so far, and will pick it up the first day it comes out. I'm not interested in the shirt, so I won't bother preordering it. I may pick up a hoodie at the concert in a couple of weeks, though.
I'm curious what he is planning on doing with the cd/artwork. He sounds a little disenchanted with the whole process.

So there's going to be a standard edition, as well? I thought that this, along with Bruce Springsteen's newest, was going to be exclusively a DualDisc. Guess I read that article incorrectly.

there was an article posted on theninhotline.net that claimed that the DualDisc was the only version to be released in the US, and that all other countries would only see a standard CD edition. This is definitely wrong, as here in Canada, both versions will be available (though the DualDisc MAY be released on May 10th, but that hasn't been confirmed).
I still wish there was going to be a SACD release.

"Only" is a real quirky song, it kinda seems like a Down In It 2...supposedly the next single. I like it in a weird way.
Also, if you haven't seen, Trent released Hand that Feeds mix in Garage Band format so that one can manipulate. It has been converted to aiff via torrent for people who just want to throw it in ACID or something.

All this NIN stuff has got me feeling so nostalgic. I used to report for The NIN Hotline from '99 till... Idunno, maybe 2001 under the alias "crimsonplague." It was good times.
I actually enjoyed the album more than I had anticipated. I'm looking forward to the show in Houston. Look out!

So far I'm disappointed with the first 4 songs, at least on first listen, but after that it picks up and is pretty good. I'll be picking this up Tuesday.

Just got my hands on a copy of "With Teeth". I'm really suprised by how listenable it is. I wasn't really expecting a verse-chorus-verse album from Reznor. I like it, it's just not what I was expecting after the demanding "The Fragile".

I find that most of the songs start pretty badly (ie: The Collector) or end pretty badly (ie: Hand that Feeds) for as long as 30 seconds, or they contain one lyric that doesn't work for me (ie: 'I got my hands in flip flop flip!" in Getting Smaller, but aside from that the song is probably my favourite) That doesn't mean they're "bad songs". In fact, aside from my dislike for certain intro's and outro's, the album is pretty fantastic. Another "bad lyric" is, in Only, he sings "there is no fucking you!" during the chorus. Lame. Without the needless "fucking" in that song, it'd be great for radio (it IS the next single, so we'll see how it's edited; it could be changed like Starfuckers, or it could just be silenced out).
I can't wait to hear it in high-quality DVD-Audio. mmmmmm...
this is one of the worst "mash-up's" I've ever heard. I think it COULD have worked, but this is just... insulting.

I was pretty surprised when I heard the radio single. I was hoping the rest of the album was better. Now that I've heard it, I like about half the tracks, but I'm sure it'll grow on me. I miss the angry Reznor though. I read an interview recently where he talks about the period where he did Downward Spiral, Antichrist Superstar and The Fragile as a really horrible time in his life and how he's in a much better place now. Congrats to him, but I kinda wish he was still there, in that dark place......

Just to let some of you know, the whole album can be heard on my space in one long litsten............it just seems like some of you are not aware of this.
I listened to the entire album twice - Sunspots is hands down the best song and this is one of their best albums to date. I will be buying the cd

I was kind of disappointed to not have a lyric booklet/liner notes with the Dualdisc. Does the regular cd version come with this? It says something to the effect of "For complete information, visit nin.com," but I didn't see anything there.
