Judas and the Black Messiah (2021)
Fantastic film with great performances from Daniel Kaluuya & Lakeith Stanfield, who I love in just about everything that they've been in.

Blow Up (1966). A photographer accidentally takes pictures of a murder. A portrait of Mod London. A character study of a talented man who hates his job and doesn't care anymore, but gets briefly jolted awake.
This movie about existentialism was widely released in America and made good box office. I continue to be surprised by what kind of movie that could be successful in the late 60s and early 70s, compared with what's popular today.
I liked it a lot.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021) — Passably entertaining sequel that is better than the original though I found that one utterly bland. This one still has the issue of me checking out once you have a CGI character fighting another CGI character. However, the interaction between Brock and Venom was great and the effects work wasn't bad, though most of the time scenes were dimly lit. ***¼/*****

I thought it would be a horror movie
It was ok but not as good as the reviews

Seven Samourai - I so wanted to love this. However, I don't think its story or characters warranted its 3-1/2 hour runtime. Mind you...I still thought it was very good (with certain scenes and elements in the excellent range), but I ultimately thought The Magnificent Seven a better moviegoing experience.

Boogie Nights (1997)
Very enjoyable film.
The spiral upwards is just as interesting as the (inevitable) spiral downwards due to such a wonderful cast.

I wanted to like or love this but it was slow and except for a few scenes was boring
I thought maybe it had some Spike Lee influences but not as entertaining as his films

Sherlock Holmes' Fatal Hour (1931) — Watchable mystery-drama with Arthur Wontner and Ian Fleming as Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson respectively. A bit slow at times but I still was engaged enough with the mystery element and liked Wontner's portrayal of the classic character. ***¼/*****

I think I liked or loved it the first time since Leguziamo was showing his dramatic chops but the second time it was mediocre.

I would have hated this in the 90's but somehow in 2021 I liked or loved it.
If you think Tomei is hot now go back to 1992 or 1993 and she is wearing her bra and panties in the opening scene and she shows her puppies to Slater and he licks them too!
Roger Ebert will be proud I am around to review movies

I am not a big religious guy or watched any of that type of programming but this was a good watch.
Chastain was probably hamming it up and chewing the scenery in that role.
Garfield was good too but a little over the top like Chastian

Sing 2 (2021)
I thought it was very charming with great songs and had a lot of heart. Great work by the voice cast. And very vibrant animation.

Topkapi - This is a fun heist movie from 1964 filmed in technicolor in Turkey and Greece. You can definitely see how it influenced later movies like the Ocean's 11 remake. I was familiar with Maximilian Schell's later work when he was older (such as playing Tea Leoni's father in Deep Impact), but damn he was a handsome dude when he was young. The lead actress, Melina Mercouri, is a sexy Greek cougar-type with a ton of charisma. The supporting cast includes Peter Ustinov, who won an Oscar for his role, and Robert Morley, a familiar British character actor. The heist goes down fully on-screen--no hidden twists. The police are not complete fools, but they do get tricked a bit by the thieves. The Mediterranean setting provides a beautiful backdrop and the cinematography makes the most of it. I was a tad disappointed with the final scenes, which felt a bit too cartoonish even for this light caper story. Still, it's a gorgeous film to look at and the characters and local color are fun.

They made 3 sequels too many and it was boring and really long and close to 2 hrs and 30 minutes.
The editor fell asleep again.
I think they should have stopped after the first Matrix and there is nothing new or breaking new ground with special effects with the new Matrix.
