Scooby-Doo: The Sword and the Scoob (2021) Another watchable, and predictable, direct-to-video Scooby-Doo movie. Nothing great but fine for younger viewers (personally can't say I laughed or even chuckled). But fine as a time-waster. ***/*****

Horizon Line (2021)
Has a couple tense moments but otherwise this was just dumb. The acting was at best average and the plot thin, far too thin for the 90-minute running time. One of those watch and forget-it films. **/*****

Tintorera TCM Underground (also just released on BD by Kino Lorber)
Susan George, Hugo Stiglitz, Fiona Lewis
Two shark-hunting friends/rivals form a "no-strings" threesome with an attractive tourist.
It starts out as a "Shark-sploitation" movie but is really more about one man's Cinemax-y sexual adventures on the Mexican coast that uses a killer shark as the deus ex machina. Lots of casual nudity.

The Peanuts Movie Amazon Streaming 4K
From Blue Sky Animation, -the group that just got their notice when Disney absorbed Fox.
This seems adapted more from the old CBS specials which in turn were adapted from Charles Schulz's long-running comic strip. I thought it played as a series of anecdotes strung together rather than a story with a solid through-line. That being said, the animation is terrific and the film is pleasant enough, though after an hour I was kind of ready for it to end. The movie makes good use of Vince Guaraldi's iconic score from the old specials, but he only gets scant credit.

Surprised Redbox made or funded this and it was available to rent at Netflix.

Watched it once and that is enough for me

Netflix streaming

I own this but too lazy to find the blu-ray and open it

Still a enjoyable and fun movie and a sucker for anything set in Miami.

The Bourne Identity - Hadn't seen this in a while (Walton Goggins was a surprise so it would have to be before Justified started...I didn't watch the Shield until later). It is the only film in this series to use the basic framework of the Ludlum novel before it goes off on it's own adventure. It's entertaining, but I remember liking the two immediate sequels more. Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread

Fatale (2020) — Decent thriller that at least had some okay twists. It's definitely one of those guilty pleasures as it is pretty much an R-rated version of a Lifetime movie with all a soap opera like plot. Nothing mind-blowing and a bit forgettable, but I did like both Ealy and Swank in the leads. ***/*****

I Care A Lot (NF, 2021) - Honestly, I'd like to never be that angry while watching a movie again, some things really got under my skin. But a worthwhile watch.

I will check it out before the awards shows start airing

Tubi

I like finding these smaller movies on streaming services since Netflix does not carry them on Blu-ray.

Good performances by the leads

Lulu Wilson is going to need a lot of therapy given what she's been subjected to in her roles - Haunting of Hill House, Ouija: Origin of Evil, Annabelle: Creation, and Becky.

HBO

This was surprisingly funny.

Bridey Elliot another daughter of Chris Elliot is in it and Clare McNulty of Search Party the other lead.

Chris must have platinum sperm since he produces the hottest daughters.

A long scene near the end with 4 girls topless but not in a sexual way though kind of strange it lasted that long.

HDNET Movies

Did not know this existed but came out in Australia in 2015

The ending I don't know what to think about that.

A Nightmare on Elm Street 2. A generic movie that I put in the queue because I heard that it was gay coded. It is, but the ending is problematic if the movie is considered that way. A young man has something horrible inside of him that he has to resist. His gym teacher hits on him at a gay bar. He gets grossed out while doing heavy petting with his girl and he immediately goes to talk about it with his gorgeous male friend. He's rescued at the end by the kiss from a loving woman, and everything will be okay now. He's been cured of the gay.

Two great talents but except for a few moments fell flat and glad I did not buy this on Blu-ray back in 2016.

Starz

It was not that bad except for the kids attacking Danny Pudi scene.

Mortal Amazon Prime
Andre Ovredal (Director)
A homeless wanderer in Norway discovers he may have God-like powers.

Intense film with elements of "Brightburn" and "Chronicle", and it had me gripped most of the way. However, it leaves some questions unanswered and ends in frustrating way, -as if it were the first in a series of films that probably aren't coming...

Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread

Melancholia. A movie about depression and about the end of the world. It's one of the best movies I've seen for a long time.

Mrs Danger and I couldn't agree about the first half of the movie depicting a dreadful wedding reception. Was the reception full of people who behave awfully all the time, or if it was full of people behaving awfully because they knew it was the end of the world?

Or was it really pretty normal, and not as bad as Justine perceived it through her depression?

Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread

I saw it just once when HDNET had movie premieres in the early 2010's but probably need to revisit it

It is free on Tubi and Vudu

It should have been great or good but just fell flat

Guess this would be the last time Meg Ryan got a chance to direct.

Hulu

Watching this after This is Us you probably need two Kleenex boxes.

The scene with Hamm and Ellen Burstyn at the baseball memorabilia shop was the best though but maybe the final 20 minutes dragged.

Tom & Jerry (2021)

I watched this earlier today on HBO Max. This one is strictly for the kids. It had a few slightly amusing moments, but I would not recommend this to the mostly middle aged folks here. If you have small kids like 12 or under, then maybe this might be something they could watch.
