Is it me, or does Ford look really scrawny and old?

Probably because he's he only one on set who's not juicing.

It'd be a shame if Ford doesn't pilot a choppa while Schwarzenegger urges the others to get on it.

I just hope that shit doesn't come off horribly cheesy like EX2.

EX2 was loads better than the too serious for its own good EX1.

Ford has never really been exactly ripped though either.

I think they were about on par for seriousness... but EX2 really needed some trimming on those non-action scenes. Though we didn't get everyone rumored, the new additions have me more pumped than ever...Ford (even if it's a few talking scenes), Mel going crazy... I'm there.

Though the end credits for the Indy films always prominently announced Body By Jake for Harrison Ford's physique in each film.

I had fun with the sequel. It wasn't a good movie by any means but I had fun with it. Still, neither of those movies live up to the potential the concept has. Hopefully the third time is indeed the charm.

Oh give me a break. They aren't perfect films but they aren't nearly as bad as what some people like to make them out to be. They had a lot of hype to live up to that some people weren't going to be happy no matter what. I think they're really fun films for what they are. I particularly liked The Expendables 2 which felt like it was a bit more in the groove than the first one did.

Re: The Expendables 3

As if either Expendables film was a "good" film to begin with. It was a bunch throwback stars shooting, killing, and blowing stuff up. It accomplished it in spades. Looking forward to the 3rd one.

Exactly. If there's one thing that annoys me more than anything it's people who try and make it seem like every film they see has to meet a certain standard (often times something unrealistic they have in their mind) and can't just sit back and enjoy something for what it is. These films aren't meant to be anything more than a fun way to kill some time with a ridiculous cast of action stars. People who are looking for something more are setting themselves up for disappointment.

Re: The Expendables 3

I think the excessive hype and fantasizing certainly hurt these movies. They're enjoyable for what they are and kept me entertained.

That said, that doesn't change the fact that they could be more.

There is nothing wrong with having standards. And no, I don't expect every action film, especially one filled with aging or third tier action stars, to be Die Hard, but Expendables 2 was so painfully, absurdly awful that I can't believe anyone is defending it. If that was fun, then getting a root canal must be amazing.
