Usually the very best actors have the tradeoff of some inner turmoil, Brando had it too. Mel all but confirmed in here he is the best actor of the these guys. As for the good guys Banderas was the best. The most surreal moment i wont spoil was just having the selected three in the helicopter though.

Re: The Expendables 3

A friend watched this and told me he was underwhelmed - beyond the awesomeness of having Gibson, Snipes, Banderas, Grammer and Ford in the picture, it isn't half as fun as it seems to think it is - not to mention this Patrick Hughes guy doesn't know how to stage or film action in a way that gets you excited/invested. He said it had some good moments but most of it is tarnished by horrible editing and direction.

I feel compelled to watch Red Hill again. Such a great and dark little urban western. Made for only 500k, too.

Red Hill is on Netflix Canada if you have one of those services that changes your apparent location for you.

Makes me wonder how much of that was Patrick Hughes, and how much of that was because they edited it down to get a PG-13 rating.

Re: The Expendables 3

The Rock asked about being in the Expendables:

If you're asking if I would consider being in the EXPENDABLES franchise - then the answer is yes. BUT.. I don't want to be on their team and be buddies with them. Fuck that noise. I want to hunt every single one of them down and tell them to "send your soul to heaven cause your ass is mine." Rousey lives cause she'd be my characters training partner and Crews lives as well cause my character would need someone to compete at pec popping with.

Damn! Everyone seems to have a "friend" that watched this movie, except for Hokeyboy whose friend is not trying to get laid.

My son saw and he liked it. He said it was as good as the first. Of course that only means something if you liked the first one.

Re: The Expendables 3

So, I watched this last night...

Easily the worst of the series, and that says something. LOTS of terrible lines, and seriously weak casting. There's a reason Rousey isn't an actress and it ain't because of her looks. And, man, Ford is just awful.

The only one who appears to be having any fun here is Arnold, and Gibson, who makes for a good, if not wholly rote and one-note, villain. Snipes was clearly having fun, but there isn't enough of him.

Many big practical stunts, but just as much bad CGI action, too.

That's sad to hear... I really had such a blast with the second one.

Lionsgate has brought in the Feds to investigate the leak. Homeland Security and ICE were brought in.

It's kind of late now. The leak has spread like wildfire and even if they find the "people" responsible, the movie is still out there.

Re: The Expendables 3

I know they cut this to a PG-13 to try and maximize the ticket sales, but I have a feeling this will be the lowest grossing one of the series. Hope if they make a fourth one they realize this needs the R rating to get the 80s hardcore action fans into the theater.

Re: The Expendables 3

If it does bad at the box office, they are going to scapegoat it as a result of the leak, not the rating.
