I think I heard Zelda at the beginning, and during a sequence later in the movie the fairy fountain music is played (right before Ramona knocks on his door I think). At least, I think?

^ very clever. but i wish they hadn't had to manipulate the mouths. still, people who can do these things are simply amazing in my eyes.

Seth Schiesel, the videogame reviewer for The New York Times (didja know they even had one?) offers his review of SCOTT PILGRIM in today's paper.

I loved this part.
Back in the day, nobody cared about plotting and characterization in video games. Now we do. That is one reason why the kitschy, self-consciously retro “Scott Pilgrim” downloadable game, released earlier this month on the PlayStation Network and set for release this week on Xbox Live, would have no market if not for the film tie-in.

I'm glad he had the courtesy to let me know i needed to avoid the whole review by doing the one thing i HATE when talking to anyone about movies/TV - mentioning you never go to movies (or the TV equivalent "I don't even own a television") then reference an old film/show to try to show how "classic" you are.

This guy falls firmly in the "Misses the point" category.
I didn't need a character to break the 4th wall and "wink" at me to let me know what i was watching wasn't supposed to be real life. I think the effects and action words kind of did that for me. The entire movie was poking fun of itself. We didn't need scene that was obvious to this guy.

I'm finally going to catch this tonight. It's just about out of the theaters around here completely, with only two night showings at the local theater.

Ditto. 3rd showing for me as well, and it holds up just as well or better on repeated viewings. This will be a definite 1st day purchase.

I loved it. I will definitely be catching it again when it hits video, just to catch the references that I might have missed.
I was very surprised at how crowded the theater was for this one. Granted, it was a smaller room, but it was pretty full.

Loved it. Day 1 purchase for me. It was geeky, funny and it was nice to see my city star as itself instead of Anytown, USA.

^I saw it again last night in Kitchener, Ontario (50 min from T.O.) and it was sold out...so it's playing well up here anyhow.

I think this will spread like crazy once it hits home video. I recently saw the film again and brought 2 friends who weren't all that interested, and have only a vague/passing interest in video games. They can't WAIT to see it again in theaters and bring some of THEIR friends. I told them to hurry. Unfortunately.

yeah... every single one of my friends who has seen it on my recommendation has either really liked it or loved it. Unfortunately, a lot of my other friends I have told about it are married with kids and don't get to the movies that often (the "wait for it on dvd" crowd).

Saw this today. Didn't get a chance to see if when it was released as I was away... this movie doesn't disappoint. The ads made it seem like a less fun version of Kick-Ass. Of course, Kick-Ass wasn't actually fun, and this was.
When I first saw Shaun of the Dead, I literally fell out of my seat due to laughter at least once. I wiped tears of laughter out of my eyes. This didn't happen in Hot Fuzz, which made me disappointed with the film. It's grown on me.
But I think in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Edgar Wright finds something that has been missing in his other movies: heart. And it works. The fights and some of the effects are still a little bit gee-whiz silly, but the filmmakers never seem like they're trying too hard, just that they are trying.
I have to admit that the movie connected emotionally with me, having gone out with Ramona-types in the past. An aside, the scene where Mary Elizabeth Winstead is on her bed will permanently be etched into the inside of my eyelids. The movie reminds me of being young and dumb. And the movie could've had 0 video game references and it still would've worked.
(The twins scene reminded me of a similar scene in Kung Fu Hustle.
One of the best movies of the year for me. I'm glad I went to a theater 60 miles from my house to see it.

Just saw this for a 4th time, this time at the dollar theater. The theater was paaaacked, to the point where groups were having to break up to get isolated seats. I think this movie is going to have a strong second life on DVD/Blu Ray.
If a DVD wasn't coming out in early November, I'd probably catch it again. I'm still catching little details I missed on the first showings.

I knew/know absolutely nothing about the comics, didn't know they existed. I didn't expect to like this either.
That said... I just finished it and this was fantastic. The whole film was so well done, put together with such style, just couldn't have been more fun to watch. What a blast.
If this didn't do well as to box office, that's just stupid.

You know, for many people it would take some time, thought, maybe even a little planning to make such a completely jackass post in such a succinct fashion.
For you though... it just seems to come naturally with no effort.

There's always someone in this forum who conveniently bumps these threads when the torrent is released. It's more than a tad suspect that you posted on that day. I guess it's just a coincidence?
