Re: Machete

This movie will be instant awesomness. I cannot wait.

It'll be weird seeing Seagal's ass on the screen again.

Um..no, you're not. She's gorgeous. But so is Jessica Alba. Two reasons to check this one out. (They almost make up for the fact that Lindsey Lohan is in it).

You know I said the same thing. She is looking pretty hot in Machete.

Yeah, Alba is looking fine as hell too. Lohan doesn't bother me because she can be a solid actress when she wants to be. Also, given how she was barely in the last trailer and I didn't even spot her in this one, something tells me she's an over-glorified cameo anyway.

Glad to know I'm not alone after all.

See, I thought this trailer was dreadful. What was with all that stupid blur? I'm sure the movie will kick all kinds of ass, but that trailer should never have seen the light of day. It's a problem when the new trailer for your movie isn't as good as the fake trailer the movie itself is based on.

Well...........they can't really run the fake trailer or the Cinco De mayo trailer, so it's better than nothing

Also I'm glad to see RR's nieces in this thing, previously known as the The Babysitter twins in Grindhouse....fucking hot.

Re: Machete

I thought Robert Rodriguez was the sole director on this one but now I see that he shares that duty with Ethan Maniquis. Is this because they recycled footage from the Grindhouse trailer? Did RR shoot the old footage but EM shot all the new footage?

Here's the website, by the way: http://www.vivamachete.com/

Re: Machete

New Trailer SUCKS!!! They are totally ignoring it's Grindhouse roots and making it look like a shitty DTV action flick. I will still go see it but I was really hoping for Grindhouse 2 not Under Seige 3: Mexican Bloodbath

Re: Machete

yeah, i saw it in front of Predators. I didn't like that it plays very seriously, instead of the farce/mexploitation it is. if they keep it like this for when the movie comes out, there will be some very confused people, as i know there will people that don't realize that its not supposed to be taken seriously

Re: Machete

Seriously? Really? I dunno, I found it funny myself. Everyone I've shown it to has laughed as well. The masked mexican wrestler is just one of many big clues that this is a farce.

in my theater, it kind of played to silence (even the big reveal of Cheech the Priest opening up his vest didnt get any reaction

Weird. And sad. Cheech's scenes were golden.

Re: Machete

I saw it in front of Predators also, with a rowdy crowd. Big reaction when the trailer first started, but went to silence by the end. Terrible trailer.

Re: Machete

Check this out

Fox have released some "lobby cards" from Robert Rodriguez’s upcoming Grindhouse-style action picture Machete.

Re: Machete

Trailer uses some weird rookie effects. Seems like it was edited by a high school student.

Yep... that was odd. Still looks good, though.

Re: Machete

Hate that new trailer as well and the blur effects in it were super annoying. The other stuff we've seen makes this movie look like a lot of fun - this new trailer made it look boring and incoherent.

Re: Machete

I tried to gauge a reaction from the audience for the trailer...no sound at all. Not even when Seagal came up..I expected a laugh maybe when he popped up..but nada. From the start...I knew this thing was going to be a hard sell. It's VERY GENRE specific..sub genre if you will in a way. I don't think audiences get the vibe it's going for too much. Much like Grindhouse...BUT Fuck J6P...I want to see this film. I want it to open good enough for RR to do other things.

I think if they literally edited all the bits w/ the good looking action and very little of the (intended awesome) cheese J6P might be conned into a hopefully good movie.

Re: Machete

had they just played an edited version of the Cinco De Mayo trailer, the reaction would prob be much better.

Same way at my theater. I was trying to gauge the reaction from the audience. Only one dude was blown away by Seagal being in it, the others didn't look interested. I feel it's going to bomb, which is sad, cause it looks fantastic.

I don't see all the problems with the trailer, I think it looks great.

They're probably trying to dis-associate it with Grindhouse given how bad it performed.. I mean this is a spin-off essentially, but it doesn't mean it has to have the dated look the fake trailer had.

Re: Machete

I don't mind the imagery shown I loved it. Music was great. It's just the way they showed the visuals. That blur and staticness...was way too much.
