Re: UHD release announcements

I'm skeptical about the Jodorowskys. Other retailers like Barnes & Noble and Deep Discount list them as traditional Blu-ray, which makes more sense at that price point and proximity to the box set's release.

Re: UHD release announcements

I really liked the movie, but I don’t see myself revisiting this one too much at all.

And wow, easter eggs are still a thing?

Haven’t seen Big Fish in years. I liked it at the time but not sure it’s worth purchasing for me.

For those who like their IMAX sequences in pillarboxed 1.44:1 !

Not only will the new edition of the movie, which features Ben Affleck's Batman squaring off against Henry Cavill's Superman, restore the IMAX aspect ratio, but it will also fix an issue with the reds.

Re: UHD release announcements

Now that Disney+ has launched 'Star' - their adult section on the streaming network, a few films are conspicuous in their absence. Three of them, we have been exclusively told, are currently undergoing a 4K remaster ahead of their debut on the service alongside a 4K Blu-ray release of each of the films.

Aliens, Alien 3 and Alien: Resurrectionare the only films in the Alien series not to have 4K editions available but this is set to change with the plan being to release them on Disney+/Star initially with a subsequent 4K Alien Collection heading to 4K Blu-ray some time in 2022.

We are trying to clarify what we can expect in terms of the versions of the films included in the set - both Aliens and Alien 3 have highly regarded director's cuts on other formats, so we hope they'll make it to 4K in some way too. We also expect the 4K Blu-ray releases to include new features and footage that has previously not been made available. We're trying to confirm more on this right now.

I know that’s one of the posters for the film, but not a fan of the artwork. Still I’ll likely upgrade it to 4K at some point.

It's $15.99 on Target for anyone who's curious.

I bet that's a misprice for the wrong edition. Amazon just listed the blu for $19.99.

Put my order in for Batman V Superman at Target just in case. $5.99 for shipping though.

It is $17.99 at Deep discount right now as well. Although it lists it as Manufactured on Demand.

It’s listed as a Warner Archive release, and none of their Blu-ray releases — despite being MOD — are on BD-Rs. I wouldn’t expect this to be any different.

Although I’m skeptical that it’s actually from Warner Archive. The price point and digital copy aren’t very Archive-y.

I thought the same thing. Although maybe it is part of the Warner Archive changes alluded to in recent 4 for 44 announcements.

Wouldn't this be the first UHD for Warner Archive? And has anyone released MOD UHDs yet?

Re: UHD release announcements

Also, interestingly I searched on Amazon for the UPC that Target has listed and found
this this
which says Blu-ray in the title and the packaging has a blue case but also says 4K Ultra HD

Artwork is rarely accurate, especially on Amazon. Even this re-release sounds like it's gonna be a cluster.

Ok, I haven’t seen any version of this flick but I seem to recall folks going nuts over other flicks that had IMAX sequences on the Blu-ray, what’s the difference here?

Re: UHD release announcements

If you have any of The Dark Knight 4K discs, they have IMAX sequences but they were formatted to 1.78:1 to fill most of 4K TV’s. Most IMAX shot ratios are 1.43:1, which on 4K TV’s look like old school TV shows shown pillarbox. Snyder wants the full IMAX ratio for these releases, so we’ll see all IMAX scenes as pillarbox.

To be fair, it's unclear if BvS Ultimate will have the 1.43:1 for sure; all we know is Snyder is pushing it heavily for his version of Justice League and that's he's super exited the IMAX sequences are "restored" for BvS.

Did the previous BvS UHD have 16:9 for IMAX sequences, or was it scope all the way through?

Re: UHD release announcements

Right, I’m not sure about BvS, but if Snyder plans on doing the IMAX scenes pillarbox style for Justice League, then we can assume he’ll do it for the remastered BvS. But I haven’t heard any specs for that one yet. And really, we don’t have the specs for new version of Justice League either. We just know that’s how it’s being shown on HBO Max.

Scope all the way through, unlike Aquaman and the two Dark Knights.
