Re: UHD release announcements
Oh my God. That was like one of the biggest cult movies of the 1990s. Sex and lots of sex. You were probably what like 5 when it came out? Guessing it wasn’t on your radar at all when you got older. It was prime Sharon Stone when she was in her early 30s.
Michael Douglas got divorced because of that movie because he became addicted to sex after filming it.
Its a movie that really needed a new remaster. So I’ll likely get it next year. Supposedly there is a 2 hour making of documentary that was filmed for the laser disc that was never released on Blu or DVD. Hoping it gets released here.

And let us all not forget the scene where Douglas pretty much rapes Jeanne Tripplehorn. She was damn sexy looking in the movie, but that scene was a bit too much. Gotta hand it to Joe Eszterhas and his sex fueled script. The same man responsible for other classics such as Showgirls, Jade....and Sliver.

Excited for Deadly Games/Dial Code Santa Claus.
I got to see it as part of a Double Feature at a local theater. So much fun.
Well Go USA is releasing Brandon Cronenberg's sophomore film Possessor on 12/8 on 4K UHD

Re: UHD release announcements
That whole argument was a bit strange because it was oriented around catalog titles. Aside from tie-ins to remakes and sequels, Disney's focus on UHD catalog titles was limited almost exclusively to recent Disney animated movies, Star Wars, MCU, and Pixar, and they quickly caught up on all of those. So for Bill Hunt to moan "Disney's now going to release nothing -- or almost nothing -- in the way of catalog titles", when they'd basically run out of the only things they seemed interested in releasing, has a "well, yeah, obviously" ring to it. That's not what I would call a change of direction, especially for a company so disinterested in their back catalog that even many of their most beloved live-action movies haven't gotten a Blu-ray release outside of Disney Movie Club.
Because Disney does like their tie-in releases, part of me was hoping that they'd release the two remaining Wolverine movies on UHD BD alongside The New Mutants. (I could comfortably go the rest of my life without suffering through Origins again, but c'mon! It was finished in 4K and everything. And I love most of The Wolverine.)

Might eventually pick up The New Mutants just to see it, but I’ll wait for a price drop.

I'll probably wait for a price drop but will pick-up The New Mutants solely for Anya Taylor-Joy's performance.

Re: UHD release announcements
Looks like They Live has been pushed back to January 19th. And there's a new addition for that day as well - Scream Factory is releasing Prince of Darkness on Ultra HD Blu-ray then as well.

Prince of Darkness would have been one of the last titles I would have guessed that Scream was going to drop on 4k. Was anyone really clamoring for this? I'm not opposed, but rather surprised that they selected it.

^ they're probably just re-releasing the same encode that came out in the UK ~2 years ago.
edit: maybe not the same encode... but point being it was already released overseas.

So was They Live, Escape From New York and The Fog. From what I’ve heard the Fog disc is pretty bad. I for one am glad these are getting released here.

Re: UHD release announcements
^ Yeah, The Fog is the worst of the bunch... so bad that there may be a problem with the HDR encode (not unlike the Galveston 4K disc). If that's fixed on the stateside release, I'll gladly re-buy. I'll hold off on replacing the others if the encodes are mostly the same.

Re: UHD release announcements
They lost the rights to Escape from New York last month. Hopefully The Fog is on the way. I'm not sure if their current licensing agreement with MGM allows for that; everything Shout/Scream has announced so far for Ultra HD Blu-ray has been under Universal. Fingers crossed!

I might upgrade Prince of Darkness to 4K. Didn’t really expect it to get a release, but it’s a cool movie.
