Man, I haven't seen Run, Lola Run since the DVD days. That'd be a cool one to revisit. It's a shame it's limited to that box set.

Also, I haven't watched Wall-e in years and have no affinity for the Criterion collection like others but I think the lack of 4k Disney/Pixar output is making me want it more than I really do.

Hasn't almost every Pixar movie already been released in 4k by Disney themselves? I have all of the Toy Story films, both Monster Inc. films, both Finding Nemo movies, Cars 1 and 2, and even Wall-E already in 4k, among others. I'm a bit befuddled by the excitement about this one unless their 4k release will be miles above what has already been released.

I think part of the excitement is that it opens up a lot of possibilities for the future.

I get that but damn it is double dipping in the same format in a very short window due to it being Criterion. And I'm a big Criterion fan with well over 300 bds and 4k releases in my library.

Every Pixar movie has been released on UHD by Disney. I agree it would be more exciting if Wall-E wasn't already on UHD.

Wall-E is my favorite Pixar film so I’ll will likely get the Criterion for that reason and to show support for Disney/Criterion releases.

Any word as to when the Rocky movies might be coming to 4K UHD BD?

Re. Wall-E - Does this mean a new 4K render is being used a the source? or is it a recompression of the same upscale that is used for the existing Disney release?

Highly unlikely the animation would be re-rendered for this release, or that the transfer will be any different at all from the existing Disney UHD.

I heard that his Director's Cut was quite rushed. Hopefully they fixed some of the rough edges (sloppy edits and music cues, etc) resulting from that.

I'd love a hybrid version of theatrical and director's cuts, but I don't see that happening.

Don't know if this has been floated yet, but I believe the shitty Poltergeist art is a blunt attempt to drive traffic to the steelbook, with better but still meh artwork. I've been A/B comparing and conclude I would pay more for better art, but not at $60 versus $25. (I'm not a steelbook collector ...)

Ten years ago I would have snagged the steelbook. These days, I’m just glad to have it in physical form at all.

All of the recent WB catalog slate looks terrible. Poltergeist, Lost Boys, etc.

Concept is top notch, execution notsomuch.

This idea would work better as a minimalistic 2-3 color design instead of the 1995 Toy Story era CG looking head.
