NBCUniversal Ent. Japan is also releasing these movies on the same day (June 24): 47 Ronin, Days of Thunder, Jaws, Top Gun, and War of the Worlds (2005).

Because the Amazon discussion was getting a little long, I moved that to the Store Forum.

Re: UHD release announcements

Paramount fixed the art of the Top Gun Steelbook with the F-14. It's now confirmed to come out on December 8th. The Standard case edition will still be out on May 19th.

Since it's a Universal release I shall contain my enthusiasm.

Universal's had a few misfires on Ultra HD Blu-ray, but the overwhelming majority of their output has been spectacular.

So far Universal is my favorite which includes blu-ray releases.

The one stinker that they had was An American Werewolf in London HD-DVD.

The Jason Bourne series wishes to contest the "one stinker" moniker.

Maybe watching the Matrix movies erased my mine of everything bad on blu-ray.4k and HD-DVD.

Re: UHD release announcements

It looks like a 60th anniversary edition of Psycho is on the way. There's a 4K steelbook listing on one Italian retailer, anyway.

Now Hitchcock in 4k is something to get excited about! The question is have Universal done new scans? Psycho on bd was pretty good, but most of the others were somewhere in the range of terrible to mediocre. Despite the comments above, Universal had a pretty lousy track record up until a couple of years ago.

Flash Gordon coming on August 3rd, although you'll have to import.

Five discs (!). I was extremely disappointed with the BD presentation on these shores, so I'm especially excited about this one.

Nice!
I saw it at my local cinema back in February and I'm fairly sure it was the same 4K restoration.

It’s being authored by Fidelity in Motion too, which is the absolute best in the biz.

Re: UHD release announcements

I'm tempted by this! I kept my Collector Edition DVD of Flash because of the packaging.

I'm tempted as well. But there's no way to order this from Amazon UK (no US shipping), and Zavvi is charging an arm and a leg for shipping.

Re: UHD release announcements

The Steelbook is live to pre-order and they're running a free shipping promotion on steelbooks, so that's $10 off right there. My total came out to $41.41. Now that's a deal. That Life After Flash documentary is available to stream, so don't need a Blu-ray of it.

Re: UHD release announcements

Dang. This is a tough call. I have the Mondo steelbook and don't know if I should just wait for the 4K to hit stateside (and just put the 4K disc in my steelbook) and get it a lot cheaper or import this version. Dang it!

They charge $10. Worth it for me for this. That's a great-looking set.

Going with the 3 disc steelbook. Free shipping is much better.

Also $40 cheaper. That's 2-3 more 4K discs at that price.
