Re: UHD release announcements

I'm hearing that Arrow will be releasing The Frighteners 4K domestically. It'll probably be from the same HDR that Turbine is using for their German release.

I like The Frighteners and somehow don’t own it. I’ll probably grab it if Arrow does indeed release it.

The Django is a huge surprise after all the trouble Arrow Video had with the limited edition BD set.

I do get tired of these 4K announcements a year after a big blu-ray package. It's going to make me a bit gun-shy going forward, as I am with Blue Underground anymore.

Re: UHD release announcements

Excited about that 4K Django announcement but can see why people who bought the previous release would be annoyed. Didn't that release just drop in June of this year?

For what it’s worth, that shouldn’t really be an issue with Blue Underground anymore. They’ve caught up on nearly all of their recent 3-disc 4K remasters they’d released on Blu-ray (only Two Evil Eyes remains), and they’re leaning on UHD/BD combos going forward. I wouldn’t expect a whole lotta Blu-ray-first-UHD-months-later scenarios from them. Not to say it’ll be zero, but far fewer, if I had to guess.

Pretty much everything (if not everything, full stop) will be reissues, but at least they’ll be reissues of titles far enough in the rear view mirror that it won’t sting the way some of these other ones might’ve.

I got my pre-release copy just shy of 2 years ago. There were 3 release dates in 2018, and nothing went anywhere following the last of those delays. They thought they had things ironed out for June of this year, and although that was almost immediately reversed, some preorders were fulfilled before the axe was swung again.

A fair number of copies made it out into the wild, but it never got a real release. Not one that stuck, anyway.

Re: UHD release announcements

I managed to get one of the Django sets when it snuck out this year. This news is mildly annoying, but in reality the bd set was supposed to come out a while back. I doubt I’ll pick up the UHD.
I’m also done doubledipping on bd’s. I’m sticking with what I have unless it’s UHD. I’ll admit the 4k scab/transfer shit is annoying. Just leads me to think there’s another release around the corner.

My UK Director's Cut BD will have to do for now.
The fancy, -and pricey, -Midsommar 4K Director's Cut Collector's Edition is back in stock at A24. I saw it mentioned elsewhere and jumped on it, and then saw that I had gotten an e-mail announcing the re-stock.

Yep, I was able to get a copy this time. I'm looking forward to seeing it.

I knew the release had its fair amount of trouble but didn't know it was that bad. Oof!

Thanks for the heads up!

I was on my break today and checked the forums before my email and saw that it went back in-stock. Like you, I jumped on an order fast!

I mentioned this in another thread but I was not expecting this to be re-stocked, considering it took 3-years for A24 to re-stock Krisha (2015).

Initially, I bought both the Director's Cut & Theatrical Cut of Midsommar on BD back when I didn't have a 4K TV. Since moving, I bought a brand-new 4K set and am really excited to see what the 4K disc looks like!

Re: UHD release announcements

I watched the theatrical cut of Midsommar recently on Amazon Prime and even though I can't say I was overwhelmed immediately, the movie has stayed in my head since I saw it.

Any movie that does that means I need to see it again and now I just got lucky with the restock and ordered the 4K director's cut! Eager to watch it again and in the best way possible!

Beautiful looking package. I wish they had included Atmos and also had the theatrical cut on there as well but what ya gonna do?

Now they just need to release a complete score/soundtrack on CD with all the creepy, catchy chants and cult music. I love this score and was disappointed to see so much is missing on the current CD release.

Re: UHD release announcements

Yeah, my only gripe was that it didn't include Atmos. This movie begs for an immersive soundtrack to bring you in and make everything feel even more uncomfortable. I'm still happy I was able to get a 4K copy this time.

Anime Limited (UK) is releasing Your Name (Makoto Shinkai) on 4K in 2021.

Funimation has the license in North America and they haven't announced a 4K release. Funimation's first 4K release will be released next month (Akira).

For those who are interested/ordered, Total Recall comes out tomorrow. Got my disc in today from Amazon. I've heard zero on this remaster, but so far it looks really great. Kind of impressive.

The original Arnie one, right? Only $15. Might have to bite. Thanks for posting.

B&N $27 or so
For those who ordered from Diabolik, they announced on twitter that the shipping company lost some of their shipment and damaged a bunch of slipcovers of the ones that did arrive. They've ordered replacements, but there's a delay. If you don't care about the slipcover, you can email them to get your copy shipped sooner than later.

I wonder if Spike Lee will sell autographed copies like he did with the Criterion release.

Criterion's lack of 4K is comically sad at this point.
