Re: UHD release announcements
Blue Underground is going to start leading with UHD/BD combos, with a bunch on the way:
Edits! On the new Shock Waves podcast, Blue Underground announced 4K remasters of Daughters of Darkness (with Atmos audio!), The Final Countdown, and Vigilante, each in varying stages of restoration. And hopefully some/all of these will be UHD/BD combos.
He also confirmed to Bloody Disgusting that the next two UHD titles are The New York Ripper and The House by the Cemetery on August 25th.

Advanced sales on our ZOMBIE and MANIAC 4K UHDs are off to a strong start. The first pressings are already two-thirds sold out! If you're one of those collector's who really wants the slipcover, we suggest you order sooner rather than later.
So with this good news, we've made the decision to release a couple more of our 4K restorations on UHD this year. And going forward, select New Releases will debut as 4K UHD + Blu-ray combos! We've got at least 5 more 4K restorations in the works, so look for some exciting announcements soon!!

Re: UHD release announcements
I got an e-mail from Target last night saying the new Top Gun 4K disc is backordered. It will come out sometime after June 1st.
I had pre-ordered it in March. That's Bullshit. I was looking forward to getting it this week and revisiting it in stunning 4K.
On the other hand, I guess it's a popular title and people want it.

Re: UHD release announcements
Edgar Wright had hinted at Scott Pilgrim vs. the World before, but this -- as part of tonight's livetweeting of the movie -- is pretty unambiguous:

Re: UHD release announcements
My Top Gun 4K came in yesterday. Was able to go through some of it.
Most of the extras are ported over from previous editions and the 30th anniversary edition.
The one big new extra is a 5 1/2 minute EPK The Legacy of Top Gun, which looks like it was shot during filming of Top Gun Maverick.
The new transfer does look pretty good. It's also nice to see hot Kelly McGillis again.

Re: UHD release announcements
This 4K disc is the first time I've watched the film since I saw it in its original theatrical run. In my memory, it was a lot more "blue" in tone , so the endless "sunset" hues were a surprise to me. I enjoyed the film overall, and I've become more forgiving of its flaws than I was in 1986. I also had not seen the 2-and-a-half hour "Making Of" (from a few years back) on the blu-ray disc; that's the kind of in-depth feature they rarely make anymore. It was interesting to hear what a "disaster" Tony Scott's first cut was, -the love story was barely there and no one could make sense of the flight scenes, -and the steps they took in editing to make it a hit.
Coincidently, I caught the end of the film on AMC the other night and they didn't even let the scene play out (stopping as Cruise and McGillis look into each other's eyes) before they cut to an episode of "Creepshow".

I was surprised to see that Amazon has a pre-order up for the "Spartacus" UHD, -I guess I missed that memo.

Re: UHD release announcements
amazon.co.uk and Diabolik DVD posted an early entry for Arrow Video’s first Ultra HD Blu-ray release. And it’s a title I’ve been really hoping to see in 4K too!

Description
“THERE’S A NEW REASON TO BE AFRAID OF THE DARK.
A sci-fi/horror sleeper hit that birthed a franchise and launched the career of a new action movie icon, Pitch Black holds its own today as a nerve-shredding creature-feature in which the monsters outside finally meet their match against a monster within.
When an intergalactic transport ship crashes on a remote desert planet with no sign of help on the horizon, the survivors, led by Fry (Radha Mitchell), band together to find a way back home. Among the passengers is Riddick (Vin Diesel), a convicted murderer being transported by marshal Johns (Cole Hauser) – and now freed of his chains and on the loose. But as a solar eclipse plunges the planet into total darkness, a threat even worse than Riddick reveals itself, and the last humans standing may have to form an uneasy truce with the cunning fugitive (whose eyes have been surgically altered to see in the dark) to last the long night.
Boasting crackerjack direction and a whip-smart script by David Twohy, as well as a star-making performance by Diesel, Riddick’s first outing is freshly unleashed in an illuminating, brand new 4K restoration, with hours of exclusive bonus content.

“PATHETIC EARTHLINGS… WHO CAN SAVE YOU NOW?
