Re: UHD release announcements

Sorry if I missed it, but I don't suppose a new version of Dune (1984) has been announced? I'm sure they'll want to ride the coattails of the new movie.

Not yet, but I've been assuming the same thing, especially since it's a Universal title.

I'd still rather have the SteelBook than this giant box.

Arrow would've licensed both Pitch Black and Flash Gordon from Universal in the U.S., though, right?

Ah, right, Universal technically has American distribution rights. It must have been a tricky negotiation for Arrow to license the film itself from Universal and the new 4k master from Studio Canal.

Maybe! It was the same story for Shout Select and The Deer Hunter (which opens with both the Universal and StudioCanal logos).

Agreed. I don't know what I am going to do. I just want the discs to throw in my Mondo Steelbook for Flash.

Wow! I’d read about the recovery effort and had seen the teases, but I missed that they actually said what the game was.

In other announcement-ish news, it looks like 21 Jump Street and 22 Jump Street are hitting UHD BD in September.

This seems to be an Amazon-exclusive gift set, and with as normal as the Beetlejuice case/slip inside are, I'm sure a regular ol' release will be coming too (and, honestly, I'm 100% with you).

Maybe it's Hagoromo brand.

Re: UHD release announcements

Novamedia confirmed that Ultra HD Blu-ray releases of Wong Kar-Wai’s films are on the way. Previous releases of theirs have featured English subtitles; hopefully that’ll be the case here as well, especially since Criterion’s made it clear that they’re not going to bother with UHD anytime soon.

We're giving you a short notice because many of you must be curious about what's coming up next. Some of you have already heard from the news articles, but director Wong Karwai's works will be made into 4K UHD, and recently Nova Media has completed a contract to print home videos. <Chungking Express, 1994>, <In The Mood For Love, 2000>, <Happy Together, 1997> and other works will be released in 4K UHD. And other titles that are out of print or released long time ago will be newly packaged and released. We'll give you a detailed production and launch schedule as time goes by. We are informing you this because we expect many of our customers are waiting for the news.

Re: UHD release announcements

Beetlejuice has been a favorite since I was a kid, but I don't think I could do a set like that.

Re: UHD release announcements

I’ve actually never owned Beetlejuice in any format. I’ll look for a standard 4K release.

Received my copy of Top Gun today. Not really a big deal, but not sure why Paramount felt the need to put a big HDR logo on the cover.

I didn’t even see the chalk until later. The box itself kinda is cool looking, but I tend to avoid the big overpriced sets like that now days.

That logo is on pretty much every cover, especially Paramount.
